Parents of the HS Class of 2025 (Part 1)

D25 got her NMSF letter today! I’m hoping the school posts their media pictures of her soon.

The list I posted just upthread shows the NMSFs school by school, and my kid’s school has only my C25. I’m a bit surprised—it’s a smaller school (about 130–150 in each graduating class), but it has a highly self-selected-for-academics student body and so they usually have multiple.

The NPC for the school where she is on the lower end only asks for GPA in the merit calculation section. Merit $$ is definitely something we want to maximize!

It’s low for both schools, only about 25%

Unfortunately, no scores start with 700, but RW is close!

More like as people have scavenged for them.

My D25 is the only from her school and only 1 of 2 from the whole city. She goes to school in a different city than we live and the city that we live only has 1 also. I think she is the first from her school since 2019 or so.

Yes, she really thought she was going to finally break 600 on the math this time! However, her lower math score does align with her grades…all of her Bs have been in math classes. She is in AP Calc AB this year and so far, has a B! Which I actually think is really good for Calculus!

Fair!

But they’re scans from the official book, so reported enough.

A sub 600 math score might be of some concern at some places. I’d look at the individual section averages for each school and factor that in.

Then I’d personally not submit for the school where she’s near the 25%. If only 25% of kids are submitting then the school probably really doesn’t care.

I do not know this for a fact, but my understanding is that this information would be reported on College Board’s Landscape program.

Well done her!

My son came home today and told me that he is taking Tulane and UMiami off his list as Freshman cannot have cars on campus :woman_shrugging:.

Whoa, c25’s school went from around 30 NMSFs to only 9 this year. I’m thinking that it’s because of the digital test somehow. I know my kid and some of their peers did far worse on it that on other tests. :woman_shrugging:

Are you in a state where the cut off went up by 5 points?

D25 got a postcard from Yale today with an application fee waiver. So now she might add that one on.

I naively assumed that this info would have been shared w/ NMSFers at S25’s school by now but nope. So by congratulating them, I broke the news to a friend and her daughter.

Nope. I know my C25 scored 90 points lower than the official practice PSAT and a high scoring friend scored 100 points lower than sophomore year.

Interesting. It was +1 for us, but I know the average SAT score has gone up with the new test.
