I thought I saw some schools open applications in July (using their own application forms). Seems a number of schools give you the option of using their own form or common app. Though C26 will probably just wait to use common app for all so as not to repeat effort lol
So far- I have only seen one school that D26 has come across that opens its applications on June 1st. They also do not utilize the common app.
She will apply to this one as a safety/back up only option and unless the application is super easy- she will be waiting until August to apply.
All other schools that she has come across align with the common app date of Aug 1st.
I deleted the first couple this is the most recent- copied text from email
In less than two minutes, you can complete your Select Junior Application. Within one week youâll get a sneak peek at your scholarships and admission eligibility at Coe College.

If you prefer to complete the Common Application, we will treat that application just the same.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Coe College Office of Admission at 319.399.8500 or admission@coe.edu.
ASU opens âon or aroundâ 1 July and have their own app as well as common app options. They are auto admit on stats so donât need essays or letters. I think there are a couple others like this too. Basically getting the safeties in early ..
D26 said APUSH exam went âpretty well.â While my DH is helping D24 move her stuff out of the dorms and into a storage unit on Motherâs Day in TX, D26 & I will be doing a ceremonial burning of the 3 sets of notebooks for the final exams sheâs completed this week.
My son said he âwas cookingâ for the most part on the APUSH exam, but thereâs a section that he felt was challenging. Overall he thought it was good. He geeked out with big brother who took it too years ago and talked about EACH section and his responses to each section, so that told me he did ok lol.
Busy week coming up here as well. Brother home from freshman year later today, AP Lang this week, Prom on Friday. She really wanted to max out her chances for a better ACT score so we agreed to sign her up for weekly private 1 on 1 tutoring through an online test prep. She did Princeton Review between test 1 and test 2 (online group zoom classes) but her math score actually went DOWN so that was a huge disappointment. This company does tutor matching based on the studentâs learning style (they ask a ton of questions). She had her first session on Wednesday night and loved the tutor. Now I wish we had discovered this place earlier. Anyway, she will take ACT one last time on June 14. We have to drive over an hour and the school is not in the best area but ACT seats in these parts are few and far between. I just want this to be over and have the ACT behind us.
Yesterday was last day of classes for my D26! Next week is exams, and then just fun until May 30.
Her school does something called Wingspan (they describe it as a âmandatory micro-termâ), where the students select from a menu of options for the week. This will be the week of May 19. Options are all over the place, some are academic focused, or a short internship, volunteer work or just fun. I told her to pick whatever she wants. She chose the âoutdoor adventuresâ option, so she will spend the week camping, hiking, doing rock climbing etc. Then the last week of school is reflection, field day, senior day, things like that.
Canât believe how close we are to the end - couple more weeks and sheâs officially done with junior year!

That sounds awesome. D26 is just biding time till the yearâs out. Working on college essays and common app stuff. I wish their school did something more organized.
We felt the same way when D26 pivoted from SAT to ACT in December. She just could not get the hang of the Digital SAT to save her life. Same tutor, barely any progress with SAT over 4 attempts, 3 point composite gain with the ACT.
The feeling of relief when theyâre done is indescribable.
Relieved -the physics teacher has agreed to write C26âs letter of rec. The English teacher has also been asked, because the school tells them to ask two teachers, but I donât think theyâre applying anywhere that requires 2.
good point. D26 missed cutoff by 1 point for NMSQT commended (if only her R/W were higher). And she complained because a friend who had total lower PSAT score met the cutoff due to R/W being >> Math and how itâs calculated. So I feel like this recognition by college board will honor what she has accomplished especially in the context of her school.
Could you pm me who your 1 on 1 tutoring company is and how much it is? S26 will also take ACT on June 14, hopefully for the last time. I signed him up for a 1-day bootcamp by a local teacher with lots of experience but some tutoring in addition sounds like a good plan. He is just not very self disciplined with his self study.
