Mine too got into University of San Francisco with pretty nice merit. For us its a really solid option.

USF location canât be beat! It is beautiful there, all the urban amenities, great proximity to lots of healthcare centers (if youâre doing nursing or anything healthcare related). I hear that students get a lot of personal attention, too. My D visited and liked a lot of things about it, except that it doesnât have an orchestra⊠that was her deal breaker

D26 finished the last RD app today! There were 5 RD apps but all others were done with the EA ones, this one I feel like she might have been scared to do. lâm so glad itâs over. Itâs currently in 2nd place but Iâm genuinely unsure if thatâs really the case. Iâd love to video her opening it but sheâd never show any excitement if I was recording her so what would be the point? Iâll think Iâll ask if I can and see what she says. I do feel like it would stifle her excitement and I wouldnât want that.
I keep thinking about that ânot buying school stuffâ as to not jinx things thread. Yaâll would be horrified about the amount of things Iâve bought for choice #1⊠but if she changes her mind, Iâm happy to buy all new stuff! 
Weâve bought stuff from every school we visited, we donât care. She wore her Dartmouth sweatshirt to school yesterday even though she decided to not even apply there. We visited Rice which is âmyâ dream school so I bought my dad a hat and everything (he loves hats) and D26 politely let me know that she didnât feel like it was the school for her. I was (inwardly) so crushed⊠she did still apply though. I love the smaller schools and she loves the big ones.
Christmas is a little exhausting for me. My Mom always decorated everything and had a gigantic spread and it was really fun when I got to just enjoy that but I always thought the people that got to go on vacation for Christmas were doing it right. When my kids were little I tried my best to do what my mom did⊠then I realized they donât care like I donât care! So I do what I love, Christmas lights, Christmas tree, matching jammies, cinnamon rolls + whatever dessert they pick and call it a day. My parents have moved closer now, so I do get to go over there and be a kid.

Congrats on the USF admits! C26 didnât end up applying because theyâre test-blind and itâs a little close to home, but itâs a great campus.
They are test optional, not test blind. Otherwise we wouldnât have applied.

My kid has only heard from 1 EA school and should hear soon from another EA school. First EA school awarded him more money,a scholarship awarded only to 10 admitted applicants. This really puts the school in serious consideration for us because at this point it will be less than our in-state publics.
@Ally86 Iâm so sorry to hear about your family situation, but congrats to your daughter on her EA acceptances!
@ali-ice My kid is still working on his last 2 RD apps. Heâs losing steam. Iâm hoping he doesnât drop the last one, but we will see. He worked on the supplemental essays for a bit today and is hoping to get it done and submitted tomorrow! The last RD app has 3 or 4 supps and 3 questions, 50 word max replies.

Sorry to hear that, from just a few random conversations thereâs a few folks waiting for their kids to start college so they can go their own ways. I hope it works out for best for you.

Both girls gave me permission to record them opening the most favored ones. I pulled out the tripod and everything, lol.
(I love the video where D22 got into Rice so much â itâs so chaotic, with a lot of me screaming and the dog underfoot with tail wagging and D26 coming down to give her a hug and DH coming in gross from doing yardwork and not wanting to be on camera, lol. It makes me laugh when I watch it.)
S25 only applied to one school that wasnât holistic, so we knew he would get in based on his GPA. I recorded him anyway. I might be that mom.

Hm, maybe they misunderstood.
Regardless, itâs another one that would have been superseded by Pitt so I think theyâre ok.
Edit: it was USD not USF thatâs test-blind. Both were being considered initially and both fell off the list.

I just posted this on the Penn State page, but I think Iâm over excited so I wanted to share here as well. We just found out our daughter got into Penn State - University Park for Fall 2026 for Industrial Engineering!!! Weâre so relieved and excited for her as this was her first choice. She is OOS with 3.8 GPA & 1300 SAT. So stressful to wait for a decision as all early action applicants can find out anytime between November 1 & December 24. They definitely tested our patience.

My kids do their own videos . We started with S24 wearing the clothes of the school (we are a buy swag at every visit fam) and D26 has continued the trend. There was one I missed with him due to travel .
S24âs acceptance video was a classic - after ED defer, waiting until the end of March, thinking no way was he getting in and then the shock and joy. It went viral in our small circle of friends.
We know lots of kids who open alone in their room. I guess mine are into the videos .

Mine definitely does NOT want to record any. I did tell her that she should open up the decisions with us or with her friends. I didnât like the idea that she might do it alone, and she agreed with that. But 100% no video evidence of anything!

We were away at Auburn visiting S24 when her Auburn decision came in. She was not expecting it and freaked out- was on the bus with her cheer team at FNL. Several of the girls pulled out their phones and started recording and I am so grateful for those videos. But that is the only one. She is waiting for 5 more schools, three of which are next week (Clemson, South Carolina and Tennessee) and I doubt she will record herself and likely wonât want us in the room.
