Bed shaker alarm clock? Do you have a link?

D30 showed me her first aid kit the other day. She has rowing so she sewed a small bag with a zipper and has band aid, blister tape, Tylenol and other things in it. In case she gets a cut or injured which is apparently a common thing. She’s so much more organized than S26.

Once we were out hiking with other families and one of the dads who is umm a bit unorganized decided to check out something through a few brambles, came out with multiple scratches and bleeding. D30 looked at him took out her cellphone opened the case and silently handed him a few bandaids.

He looked at me and a few other dads with a shocked looked, like how is this possible ? then I look over and see his wife and the other moms judging us. Before I could say I don’t know him they rolled their eyes in union and walked off. Not a good day for our gender.

All this to say you know your kid, some of them will sit there bleeding with a case full of bandaids. So don’t waste money on things you know they won’t use.

My D26 calls herself the ā€œmom friendā€ – for every marching band away game, she had extra band-aids, blister tape, hair ties, tissues, baby wipes, feminine supplies, phone power banks, Advil, Dramamine, snacks.

(She did hold leadership positions the last three years, and it was her job to look out for the younger kids – but she did this even as an 8th grader, LOL.)

Can’t imagine where she gets it. :joy:

I saw somewhere where a mom hid some money with a note that said something like ā€œCall me when you find this! Love, momā€ inside the pillowcase, and the kid came home at the end of the semester with it still inside.

So, you should be very proud that your kid washed his!

Same, same.

S23 and his roommates did appreciate some of the comfort items I put in the first aid kit, though, like instant miso soup packets and tea bags, and packets of tissues with cute animals on the packaging. First month of school everyone gets sick a lot.

Back when I actually understood the memes, lol, instead of my kids explaining them to me.

ā€œHelp I accidentally built a shelfā€ still cracks me up. :joy:

For D26’s 1st aid kit, it’ll have:

  • 1st semester’s supply of Flonase
  • 1 month supply of Sudafed (kid is prone to sinus infections)
  • 6 mo supply of iron supplements (at pediatrician’s direction)
  • 6 mo supply of Allegra
  • 6 mo supply of nasal rinse salt packets (here at home, has to do it 1x/day but at U of A it’ll be 2x/day because of all the Palo Verde and mesquite trees there)
  • Afrin spray (uses for 3 days in a row when sinus infections symptoms start, this is at direction of allergist Dr)
  • sunscreen
  • Tylenol
  • ibuprofen
  • thermometer
  • band aids
  • pulse oximeter
  • antifungal cream
  • Neosporin
  • nail clippers
  • a cold pack to use for owies
  • cough medicine
  • Pedialyte packets
  • Plan B medication

At first I was impressed that your daughter would be sweeping and cleaning on a regular basis, and then I realized that your D was super cool since she actually has lightsabers.

D26 needs this. They amount of times I’ve had to wake her up is beyond me!

Haven’t actually bought or tried one out yet but this is one I’m eye’ing.

Speaking of loud alarm clocks, don’t do what a parent at D24’s college apparently did one year…called the Residential Life office and asked/demanded that the college provide a wake up service for their freshman who couldn’t get to school on time w/o the parents waking him/her up.

Tennessee EA OOS - Accepted and Volunteer Scholarship of $9k/yr.

So that’s 2/2 thus far… but her ā€˜highest valued’ one is end of the week and I’m 50:50 on that one (at best). :grimacing:

S26 just received admission to CU Boulder! Direct admit to college of engineering (MechE) with merit. Phew…for some reason this one was a big relief for me. He was also admitted to Colorado School of Mines on Friday with merit. CU ranks higher for him, but I don’t think he should totally rule out Mines quite yet.

The remaining three schools he’s waiting to hear from are his top choices. I think that they’re reaches for him, but he’s requested that I think positively and help him manifest.

Maybe not as exciting but C26 admitted to UIC for architecture with a somewhat vague merit award of ā€œover $8000ā€ a year.

I know someone there who loves it! Congratulations!

Awesome!! He’s in state right? I heard some instate decisions rolled out today. We’re still waiting.
