Are your Class of 2030 kids signed up for classes? Here is my D30’s schedule:
- Geometry
- History
- PE
- Science
- English
- Drama
- Manadrin
Pretty basic, the last two are her electives. What classes are your kids taking?
Astrogirlmom, welcome! The application process has a steep learning curve, but totally doable with enough info ahead of time. You really don’t have to think about the logistics of the applications until 11th grade, to pick out teachers for references, take SAT/ACT exams, and to narrow a list (the applications are highly dependent on which schools your child will apply to). For the content of the applications, have your kid take the hardest classes they can do well in and have them participate in activities (sports, part-time job, volunteering, family responsibilities, etc.).

Yay, a thread for 2030 is finally here! I just “graduated” from the Parent Class of 2026, with my D26 starting UCSD in the fall, and now it’s time for D30 to begin high school!
We don’t have a lot of choice for 9th grade classes, and D30’s school is in a trimester system. No APs allowed for freshmen. As of today, for trimester 1 she is taking Spanish 1A, Honors Geometry, Honors English, and Biology. She is taking PE (required for freshmen in CA) online this summer, so she’s also hoping to take biomedical science, but we’ll find out about that option later this summer.

Thank you. I will try not to think too far ahead and miss enjoying high school years.
Her schedule for next year is AP Seminar, AP Gov, Algebra 2, Spanish 3, Biology and Orchestra. We have no limitation on AP’s if you meet the pre-requisites.

My S30 will have:
Honors Algebra 2, Honors English, Environmental Science (new as a required 9th grade science here, with no honors or AP option 
), World History (no honors or AP option for this either), Band, and ASL. He requested no study hall, which if he is granted that request it will be for one semester of gym and one elective - I think he put small engines as his first choice. 
. We won’t find out for sure what his schedule is until right before school starts in late August.
We aren’t sure how likely it is that he will get the full 7 classes/no study hall. The school’s policy is that 9th graders will only be granted this if they are in music, and none of my 3 older kids were in a school music program.

D24 and D30! I’m here to tell you that college goes by a million times faster than high school - hold on and enjoy the ride!

I felt this way on D25’s graduation day! We were standing on the football field and I felt like, “ok, that actually went by fast!” The days are long and drama-filled, but the years are short and getting shorter and shorter…and shorter.
Y’all’s kids are taking great math. My D25 only took Calc AB and told me to make sure D30 can take Calc BC.
