hi my name is ashley and college and support is not very easy i mean my parents are seperated and i do not live with them i live on my own and still in high school i turn 18 this summa and am scared

So, what do you want us to do? Do need advice about something?

parents who ate not much help…?
ate???
really now?

I don’t get it. Sorry?

Alex

It was obviously a typo-give her a break. Ashley, I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for you. Going through the application process is scary even when you do have a strong support system. If you haven’t already, you should certainly go to your school guidance counselor to discuss which colleges are academically and financially realistic for you. (I don’t know if you’re a senior or junior, but you can find which schools will still accept applications also.) They will be able to give you information on scholarships and help you fill out financial aid forms. You may be surprised at just how helpful your counselor can be (maybe they can even help you talk to your parents?). I feel for you and wish you luck!

I’m sorry but I’m with Alexx. I’m not sure what you want us to do.

And I’m not seeing where ate is a typo. I mean, what it is supposed to be.

“I mean, what it is supposed to be.”

are…=P

probably a ranting sort of thread…may be?

I wasn’t referring to the typo, I don’t get what she wants. Her situation is hard and it sucks, but was she expecting a response or making an introduction?

Welcome to cc, by the way.

Alex

it may be REALLY off topic…but I think this phrase should be banned! lawl…like…after that incident…the whole Give Her a Break thing…(youtube, Brit Spears!) I can’t think of that phrase w/o thinking of that incident…it may be me…but, anyway…back to the topic.

^^ Innovative… I truly don’t think anybody else thought of that.

But she should probably come back and explain what she wants us to do… cause we’re all confused.

^…awesome…(sigh of relief!).

■■■■■, ■■■■■, ■■■■■

random thread much?

I would say talk with your guidance counselor about college and what you want from it. You could also ease into the college process by trying community college.

We should get back on topic, but it would be helpful if there was a topic.

Ashley,
I am sorry that you are so upset at your parents, but first of all, they are not separated, secondly, you live with your grandparents, and thirdly, you have many family members who would love for you to go to college. So why did you post this on here? I suggest you start looking into scholarships, talking to your grandma and grandpa, and lay off of your parents for once.

I don’t live with my parents either, and I just finished (finally!) the application process. It wasn’t easy, but I found support from teachers, my boss, and people on CC :). You can do it if you really want to, it’s not that hard! Parents wouldn’t really be doing anything as far as applying goes. As for the money, I’m a little more prepared because I work so much, but find a ton of scholarships and get a job. Good luck!

She means “are”, not “ate”. That should be fairly obvious given the context. It’s a typo, she doesn’t need to be drilled over it.

OP: You should seek assistance with your school’s guidance counselors and have them point you in the right direction. There are several resources for helping students in similar situations. Don’t get discouraged.
