But make sure you don’t get scream out in anger. Rather, be angry in a silent way.

get ready to be disowned!

Well you have great stats. They’re about average for Stanford applicants, but great everywhere else.

Your ECs are well above average. Your GPA is pretty good considering the schedule you are taking. The C will definitely hurt your chances–is there any way you can get it up? Your SAT scores are very good but almost everyone who applys to Stanford has good SATs.

You are an underrepresented minority, so that will probably help. And your race is less-well represented than the rest of the minorities as well, so that also helps. Are you from a low socio-economic background? Did your parents go to college? If you are and they did not it will tremendously help your application.

I’m Latino, and my biological father was an immigrant though he did go to college. However I live with my mom and stepdad and both went to college (Mom has an MBA) and make around $150k together a year. The Stanford rep I talked to said that URM status does help a lot but it usually was combined with low-socioeconomic status as well as being a first-generation American and a first-generation college student. So I’m not relying on that hook too much.

I’m just hoping my essays and ECs will overcome the grades the last 3 semesters (about half Bs, but all in APs) and my lack of SAT IIs.

Look at birthofthecool’s other threads. They are obnoxious and attention-seeking. I’d reccommend you just ignore them.

besides salpert everyone here has been extremely helpful. thanks a lot.

birthofthecool, don’t worry, this is a stressful time of year for everyone, and people lose their cool sometimes. Come May 15, everyone will be back to their normal selves.

Is there anything I can do to improve my chances significantly before I apply to Stanford? My parents are still saying they are going to disown me if/when I don’t get in.

^short answer is no ![]()
your record at this point is your record. Unless you have some major competitions still to come where you may get results by Feb, your app is what it is.

All I’m going to say is. Who the **** cares? You’re about to be an adult, if you aren’t 18 already. Sure, it’s fine to respect what your parents want, but from then on, you’re making your own decisions. If you don’t get in, no big deal, it’s a crap shoot for just about everybody. Not the end of the world, and it says nothing about your abilities or accomplishments. Your parents aren’t living your future. You are. Make your own decisions.

why do u have the same thread on the stanford and the georgetown page? if its for ea, you couldnt have done stanford and georgetown. correct me if im wrong

its not for ea

got itttt, well i def. think you have a really good chance at both, your urm status i think will push you over ESP with those scores. if youre doing stanford, good luck tonight (whenever you hear)!!

what’s ESP? and btw i won’t be hearing back tonight because I DID NOT APPLY EA! GET IT?

Just curious, but if getting into Stanford is so important, why didn’t you apply EA?

I wanted to wait until I got to know my senior year teachers better so I would have more options as far as teacher recommendations.

bumparoooooo

why do u keep bumping this.

50/50 shot. your profile is nothing spectacular. You’re lacking in everything but test scores which stanford doesn’t put that much importance in.

Id say its a toss up
