While reading the parking and transportation page it’s not that clear cut. JPA parking is cheaper but I know I’ll end up getting ticketed or towed for forgetting to move my car.

What is the best solution, for cost and convenience, for a person living off grounds near the corner.

Thanks, I saw that but I know I will forget to move my car, which according to the schedule seems to be every few days, I know I will end up getting ticketed and towed.

Right now the cheapest option seems to be Emmett/Ivy, but if anyone has a better solution, (thanks shoe) I would appreciate it.

I have a question similar to vistany’s. If you live in Bice, how many spaces do you get for each suite? I know you only get 1 for Lambeth. But are spaces rationed out at Bice too? At least 3 of my suitemates want to bring a car, and I want to bring one too. I just want to get this sorted out soon so I can buy a new one lol.

gals: It could easily be an everyday need. There are a lot of volunteering activities that require/strongly recommend having a car, working at the hospital, taking golf classes (that’s the only reason I didn’t take any this year), running errands, etc. Carpooling may work for long distance commutes, but for little things, it’s much easier when having a car. I had my car down here for a few days (shhh… ;)) and I forgot how much I’ve missed having it. It really does save time, although it isn’t necessary.

vist: Emmet/Ivy is the best option that I’ve heard of. If the price of parking in your building isn’t astronomically high, it could also be beneficial to park there instead.

galoisien: Even if carpooling is better for the environment, and as db said, for longer trips, it’s extremely practical having a car for quick trips. I know I’m going to go crazy if I’m without a car one more year, although the prospect of driving from the other side of the country doesn’t sound fun either.

vist: Hopefully your building isn’t too high, but I know mine on Rugby is $100/month, which to me seems slightly excessive for a town of 40,000 people.

You will almost always have to walk some distance to get to your car unless you pay ridiculous parking prices around the corner so it will never really be that convenient.

Options:

-Culbreth Garage - most convenient, but also the most expensive for you
-Emmet/Ivy - cheaper, less convenient, but don’t have to move for events
-Uhall - half the price of Emmet/Ivy, but you have to move for bball events and concerts

Nothing too fancy db, the spaces at Bice are so small your new car will be a victim of the dent and ding Olympics. Also warn visitors to be carefull parking there. The ticket patrol seems to really like working that lot.

A $100.00 a month Canuck??? That is total $hit. My building charges $85.00 which is why I’m looking for cheaper options. But based on what I’ve learned so far Protean makes valid points.

some people should have to take a parking test before getting their license. And repeat that test every few months. Bah. I was thinking about a Lexus IS or a RAV4 but it seems that those might not be such great options; I don’t want to go to a body shop every couple of months. Maybe I’ll buy a crap car for the next few years and then buy a nice one after graduating.

Good choice db. A Lexus at Bice is not a good combo. My car went from decent to a beater after a couple years in the school parking lot. I’m gonna drive it till it dies and buy something later. One more reason I don’t want to pay for expensive parking. My crapmobile doesn’t deserve an expensive parking lot.
