No spoilers, but I thought last night’s episode was magical. CTM is now one of my Top 3 shows ever.
I’m not sure I’d put it in my personal top 3, but I think I can go top 10. I agree that it was magical. The carousel was such a satisfying ending. We’ve mentioned that Sister Monica Joan has become so much more lucid in recent seasons, but how about how Fred has developed? I always liked him, but he is just one big teddy bear with a dash of mischief. So sweet how he knew just what to do for Violet, but funny how he led Tom a little off the pastoral path.
Loved last night’s episode… the wedding/the baby safely delivered/the reunion of Patsy and the other character whose name I don’t know and the relationship with Trixie. I agree about the dentist, his car and his daugher, nice package deal!
Spoiler Alert: Did the man whose wife passed away find out she was on The Pill? Or did Trixie quietly take them away? The moment I saw that woman grab her side, then light up a cigarette, I knew what was going to happen.

I knew she was a goner as soon as she complained about her painful leg. The “Blood clot!” alarm immediately went off in my head.
They wouldn’t have mentioned the sore leg if it wasn’t going to loom large later.

I thought the implication was that Trixie didn’t tell the husband about the contraceptive pills, but did tell the doctors. When one of the doctors asked whether she had been taking contraceptives, the husband was dumbfounded: “Why would she do that? She knows I want a son!” He obviously had no idea of what the audience already knew: She was desperate to work again, and not to have another child.
Remembering, too, that England in 1962 was a very different environment for informed consent claims than the U.S. in 2017, it’s not hard to conclude that Trixie’s choice was a kind one, to forgo the opportunity to subject him to a little ad hoc political re-education about women’s autonomy. The last thing he would have known about his wife would have been something he would have considered a terrible betrayal.
Just rewatched, Trixie did tell the husband that the wife had been to an appointment at the reproductive clinic. Also noticed that the pills were left with the women’s effects, it didn’t appear that she took them with her so presumably they will be given to her husband with the rest of her belongings.
Does anyone know any details of the dentist’s prior divorce?
If anyone is curious, the Turner baby will be called Edward, or Teddy for short!

I knew Wilma had a blood clot the moment she mentioned the leg pain, but I was completely caught off guard when she didn’t survive. 
My older sister had a PE at age 27 in the mid-1980s, having been put on a very-low-dose pill to regulate her menstrual cycle. Nonsmoker, and it happened VERY quickly. Nearly killed her. A few years later a good friend of mine developed extreme leg pain shortly after starting on birth control, and thankfully she remembered my sister’s ordeal. Fortunately, hers was caught before it went to her vital organs. But, yes, it was caused by the contraceptives.
I believe in the early years of “The Pill,” women were receiving much higher doses of hormones, which led to a lot of complications and bad outcomes. Today, while PEs can happen, they’re very rare.
It was just so heartbreaking to think a young mother like Wilma would lose her life like that, when all she wanted was control of her reproductive decisions. I loved the whole episode, but that part of the story made it hard for me to fully enjoy the rest.
But that carousel? Spectacular! And the DDS’s little girl was a mini-Trixie. I hope the ex isn’t the spitting image as well!
My 91-year-old aunt is visiting and I thought she might like the show. But it was a little awkward when Barbara was trying to get the hang of the diaphragm!
But I loved the carousel. A perfect ending.
Just watched the last episode. Such a wonderful show – I’m verklempt! Actually, the saddest part to me was when that calming voice came on at the end (Laura Linney? Not sure who it is.) and said that CTM would be back spring 2018. That’s too long!
The scene with Barbara’s diaphragm ricocheting around the bathroom was hysterical. 
Great final episode to a great season. It’ll be a long wait until next year.
There will be the Christmas special to tide us over at least. Last year, it was on Christmas evening, I think.

Most popular British TV series do. Downton Abbey had one every year.
British families must sit around their TVs on Christmas day watching the specials of their favorite shows. Much better IMO than football and parades. Better yet, spend time with family and watch them later.
