<p>I don’t think that’s very applicable context. Elizabeth Taylor was born to American parents in England and moved to the US herself when she was 7 years old. So I’m thinking her view of the world at age 24 was probably more Yank than Brit. In addition, the fact that this photo of Liz has remained hidden away all these years demonstrates that she probably wasn’t intending to appear naked in public. The Midwife characters were opening stripping down to their underwear in broad daylight.</p>

Yep… I’m watching. Am dying to know where they’re going to go with Trixie’s drinking problem! Not much time left in this season to resolve the story line.
I’ve watched as many included seasons as I can on Amazon Prime and Netflix–maybe I’ll pay to get the latest. PBS sometimes offers recent broadcasts for free online.
This show is really a tribute to the origins of the NHS. But the original NHS depended on low-wage female labor and volunteers like those Anglican nuns.

It’s currently my favorite show, especially as they are now up to the year in which I was born. But I want Chummy back!
I miss Jenny a little and Chummy tons. She is THE best character!
I absolutely love this show. And the books that it is based on are fascinating to read.

I think it was last summer, or last spring that I decided to read the trilogy of books that the series is based on. I very much enjoyed them!

The first book is Call the Midwife, but all of them now have Call the Midwife as part of the title. Author is Jennifer Worth.
Loved the books. It has been a while since I read them, and I recall that some of the stories varied from the series, with at least two of them having different endings.
Both DH and I look forward to watching. They have done a good job even without Jenny.
I have been pleasantly surprised at the story development this season with Jenny gone and Chummy largely absent. Miss them both, but I’m loving Cynthia’s return as Sister Mary Cynthia, a softer side of Sister Evangelina, and Fred’s developing courtship.
