I speak three other languages other than English
I think I could get a 90 on the SSAT
I already got my some of my reccomendations and they were great

Thanks :)

Also How hard is to get in as sophomore how many people usually apply as sophomore how many get in?

Wow, you’re pretty accomplished! I think you have a good chance at Concord. It’s a really good school but you don’t hear about it a lot. I see that you dance and they have an AWESOME dance program. Also, they are little more arts oriented, I think, and based on your stats it looks like you’re into that sort of thing? I know nothing about Berkshire or Peddie so I couldn’t really say. I think Middlesex and Taft may be a bit of a reach, but not really, (plus what I say is far from definitive, lol).

But I think you have a really good chance for wherever you apply, especially if you do well on the SSAT.

Why do you think they would be a reach? I am just curious. I like art but not that much the literary art magazine is writing, art, poetry ect. What is Taft and Middlesex’s speaciality like Exeter is Science and Hockey.

Well, Taft and Middlesex have lower acceptance rates, which was why I thought they might be “reaches”. I don’t really know what their specialties are, if they have any. Also, just to clarify, I didn’t mean Concord was “artsy” just in the sense of visual arts, I also meant in the literary and performing sense too. You’ll just have to visit the schools and see which ones seem like the best fit.

Middlesex is very strong with writing. Taft… has lots of athletes. Concord’s visual arts program is strong, but I don’t know anything else about it… Good luck~

When I got my application for Middlesex, they had no short answer questions or essay questions except to send an essay. To get into taft do you need to do a sport? What about Berkshire and Peddie?

@ Privateschools: No, I wouldn’t think so (Taft). They just recruit a lot of athletes, but they’re not like, a macho-macho-jock-jock kind of school, haha.

Do you know how many people apply as a sophomore for taft and middlesex? Middlesex seems like it is easy to get into…nothing on their application. comment on that please. Do you go to a private school which one? Should I send artwork to all of them? Will it help?

if you’re good at art, then definitely send a portfolio, it will help.

okay, middlesex… is not easy to get into. what do you mean by “nothing on their application”? i heard that for middlesex, you had to write an essay during the interview; levels out the playing field. that’s pretty intimidating, hahaha. anyways, point is, middlesex is NOT easy to get into.

by the way, their SAT scores are impressive.

Well on their application they had only questions about like what awards do you have and what EC’s do you do but their were no short answers or essays except send in a graded essay. Wow in the interview write an essay what if you have a phone interview lol. I heard that Middlesex cares more about if you are nice and friendly and curious than your EC’s and grades (I mean you probably have to have good grades). Is that true?

Yeah I saw their SAT scores…pretty good

Yes, at Middlesex they make you sit for an essay during the visit, like at the SSATs. This is supposed to make it fair to kids who don’t have tutors and crazy parents writing the essay for them and challenges you to use only your vocabulary, not a thesaurus for massive words.

Middlesex is a school for brains, not athletes, and Taft is the opposite. Concord’s pretty artsy, there are quite a few people who apply just for the art/dance programs.

On your SSAT try to schedule multiple tests, there’s a better chance you will get a higher score and all the tests are different so you might be more immediately familiar with the material on a particular one. For example, last year I got every single question on the verbal section right, but it was mainly because I had just been studying the roots of a few for Latin I.

Alelu —>I have a question though, the Middlesex website says that the interview isn’t necessary. Then, why would they make you write an essay during the interview?

Oh, and I don’t know about you guys, but the Middlesex application for this year hasn’t been released yet, so who knows, they’re might be some essay questions this year :D

Oh, please chance me, I’m also applying to Middlesex :D: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-chances/776559-chance-me-im-junior-living-honduras-who-wants-go-andover-choate-2.html

just so you know…middlesex has overenrolled for the past two years now…and they still have a 25% acceptance rate…you should expect their acceptance rates to drop…

Josh- Son was accepted at MX this past year and for us, the interview was a requirement. The flow of the visit was as follows: First, the tour, then the interview and finally the essay. Parents chatted it up with the admin folks while the applicants worked on the essay. It typically took most applicants approx 40 minutes to complete the essay

My son got into middlesex this year. We had a very good impression interview. It’s kind of friendly, warm and positive interview. Although he got admsision to choate , peddie , .Lawrenceville but he still choose to go to middlesex. This school focus very much on English, my son as a junior need to take AP English( every junior is required to take Ap English) , Because of rule in middlesex that every new coming student can not take more that 5 subjects. When my son want to enrole in AP Studio art as the 6 th subject , the school has arranged an audit course in AP studio art for him. This is a very good choice that, if he can not tolerate this 6 subjects in the first semester, he can drop from AP Studio art whenever he want.
