@VaishS Sounds like a good idea!! Thanks
Just had my interview- it went really well but I wish I had seen that link before! I feel like that info for interviewers shouldnât be publicly accessible lol
Uhhh⊠My interviewer told me that she isnât allowed to contact the applicant after the interview. Doing so would be a violation and can get interviewer fired/student in trouble.
@toffys - That is also my understanding. I am a bit surprised that interviewers are contacting back and asking for things (like resume). My interviewers took notes during the interview.
@TheWaffleMan149 That is really strange that you were asked for your resume. I tried to be proactive before my interview and volunteered the info right off the bat since these alums only receive our names, admission plan, and high school. My interviewer, once we started talking, revealed that she had been directed not to look at resumes and in fact to not ask about grades period.
I know I thanked my interviewer sincerely and thoroughly at the end of our meeting, but do you guys think sending an additional thank you note would be appropriate? I donât have a physical mailing address, but I do have an email address. Is communication after the fact expressly forbidden?
I applied to Wharton with a finance concentration and my interview was a Wharton grad w/ a finance concentration. He contacted me asap rocky too
@alfred500 I think it is a good idea. And itâs def not forbidden unless your specific interviewer doesnât like it. My interviewer told me to email him any time I had a question. But either way a quick thank you email wonât hurt

Penn says itâs okay to send a thank you note after the interview, so you should be fine. Just donât extend your conversation with the interviewer beyond the thank you note.
It says right on the Penn website not to bring a resume although many interviewers will still take it. Interviewers are also told to write their report within 3 days. So what waffleman experienced is strange.
One of the âPrinciples of Good Practiceâ is:
Members will not communicate with applicants except to arrange and conduct the interview, and to address specific follow-up questions raised by the applicant. Members may contact students who have been admitted to Penn only after receiving communication from Penn Admissions or the Alumni Interview Program staff.
It is also clarified at the end as follows:
Members will notify the Penn Alumni Interview Program if they commit or witness any breach of the above expectations. Any member found in violation of our Eligibility Requirements or Principles of Good Practice is subject to deactivation from the Interview Program.
It is surprising why these interviewers are asking for resume, etc. 8-|
Lol wow
Guess I just got extremely unlucky
@TheWaffleMan149 - not sure if you are lucky or unlucky but it is concerning that the interviewer (trusted and entrusted by Penn) isnât following the guidelines.
Wishing everyone the very best!
Yeah I know. Iâm going to report it to my GC at school
I do know that a lot of interviewers give out their contact information though
@TheWaffleMan149 - the email & phone # will be known to the student as the interviewer will initiate contact using these methods.
Discussing about grades, ECs, or asking for resume are definitely suggested as âno toâ by Penn. See below:
What not to ask or discuss:
Donât ask about, or speak about, other potential college choices.
Donât ask about the studentâs grades, testing, or accolades. The studentâs application already includes this information.
When a student goes to the interview, here is what to take (from Penn website):
What to Bring: Simply, we ask you to bring yourself. Please do not bring a resume or a portfolio. (Note that international applicants may be requested to bring additional documents.) Your passions, narrative, and questions will bring the conversation to life.
Penn website clearly states NOT to bring a resume or a portfolio :)>-
Does anyone else get angry when they hear one of their classmates talking about how awesome their application to your top choice school is? And how they lied on their applications?
@TheWaffleMan149 I have never had to experience that xD
Does anyone get angry when they hear someone got into their top choice EA, say, MIT or Berkeley or something, but they are not withdrawing applications RD from schools like Penn, Princeton, etc? And one of those schools is your top choice?
I think all this about the contact after the interview is making a big deal over nothing⊠those guidelines are in place so that you donât hang out with your interviewer on a daily basis and develop a personal relationship (which would taint the objectivity of your interview report). If you interviewer asked for a resume, send it to them. If they get in trouble, thatâs not your problem.
@TheWaffleMan149 Not telling you what to do, but what good will reporting this to your GC do? The only thing they can do is call Penn and tell them you had an issue with your interview and IMO theyâll either then throw out your interview report (which is no good if you had a good interview) or just shrug it off.
Ok thanks @computerage
