@jarrett211 Oh thank goodness someone made the same decision! I’ve been a cellist for 10 years and done a lot of music ECs, but I decided not to send a supplement because I’m not that great and I don’t really plan on playing a ton in college. My parents have been freaking out about me not sending one though.
My perspective is that it can’t hurt for me… I know the stuff I submitted isn’t Gehry or Cartier-Bresson, but it’s solid enough. I also included two photos of some products I designed for my clothing company.
I feel that if it has any effect on a final decision it’ll be a positive one. But everyone is different
@jarrett211 “Self-deprication is a virtue. Never forget that.” Love it, I completely agree. There’s a typo though.
Yeah I agree it’s impossible to know the %… I guess we don’t actually know anything about the admission process at all. All we can do is wait and random thoughts are generated when we have too long to wait haha.
The world is unfair. Crap happens
I guess sometimes we just have to accept it and hope everything turns out well for us too!
Lol I did an architecture summer program at Penn two summers ago, and the project I spent 2 weeks on arrived home in millions of pieces
@rosewood98 Yeah. I think it’s the right decision, especially since they have a limited amount of time they are going to spend on an individual application. I already have an important additional rec I’m sending as well as an attached resume, so they have their hands full. I’m not sure they want to listen to some random guy’s mediocre piano playing.
@SylvRsr Lol.
I submitted a music supplement. I play the violin and I’m the concertmaster and president of the orchestra so I thought I should submit one to prove my abilities. My supp was a quartet performance at a concert. I originally wanted to submit a solo piece but decided against it… I was scared at first because I’m not a great player. I went to states for competition and stuff but I’m nowhere close to those semi-professionals. However a friend of mine submitted music supp last year and he applied to Wharton. The admission officers told him his music supp really stood out. Idk how much music supplements help but I’m hoping they count for something even though I’m not that great of a player
@jarrett211 Care for a duet/violin&piano sonata?
I didn’t submit a resume. Should I be worried?
Wow you guys all sound so accomplished. Meanwhile I have done nothing compared to you guys it seems like…
@Makooks I didn’t either
@Makooks I don’t have anything special either… No research or awards… Just ordinary school ECs
@Makooks Trust me, I don’t have anything remotely special…
@SylvRsr I don’t know much about music but president of the orchestra and concert master sounds pretty special
I submitted a music supplement and I have won some awards at provincial and national competitions… but like I am scared that my music supplement isnt good enough because in a recording, it is always hard to show off the different ranges of emotion and dynamics…
@Makooks Thanks it’s like my only good EC… They do sound nice but I’m not even doing anything related to music T^T
My school has rampant grading inflation… 20-30 per year graduate with a 4.0
Same @decidophobia
Is it better if your school average is lower or higher? cuz my school probably has a school average of around 65 to low 70s…
@ZaGongShow Totally understand how you feel! What do you play? My supp was professionally recorded so the sound quality is actually nice. I didn’t submit a solo piece because the recording I got sounded absolutely horrible
