That is also possible @successonsuccess
Plus, Penn is kind of the “forgotten ivy,” so it would make sense for the largest concentration of applicants to come from areas close to the university
I’m pretty sure Penn actually does prefer PA kids (esp. Phila kids) because they want to give back to the community.
@ComputerAge, from what my counselor said, Penn made an agreement with the city before. In exchange for land, Penn agreed to accept more kids from the city and give them the mayor’s scholarship.
i’m sure Penn does, but there are other factors that might play into the high PA acceptances as well is all I was saying.
I live in a town/small city filled with Penn alumni (mostly Wharton), and a lot of them make up the wealthiest of an already wealthy area. There are so many alumni in my town (large Boston suburb) that Penn was able to find me an alumni interviewer within walking distance of my house who also happened to major in PPE. In terms of acceptances, it really goes like this: Philadelphia residents > Northeast > California > Everywhere else > International It is important to remember that Pennsylvania has way more people who go to Penn because there are so many more people who apply. I’d say other than Philadelphia, everyone has proportional odds of acceptance that are relatively equal.
@emilyskates I don’t figure skate, but I love to skate, and I used to play ice hockey when I was younger.
Idek why I applied Penn ED anymore, I have nothing special like you guys and im not from PA
@VaishS I feel exactly the same way:( I am like 100% sure that Im going to be rejected. I just can’t think positively anymore…
Remember that they need students from every state!
Lol even the one student from Montana
Not a single one from North Dakota last year though LOL
@VaishS @Makooks I’m from PA and I’m still feeling hopeless. But really, I don’t think any of us is not qualified to be accepted. I think we’re all sacred but we all are qualified
@VaishS @Makooks stop doubting yourself guyss everyone here feels the same way regarding qualifications… we are all equally qualified its just a matter of what kind of people penn admissions want in their class this year >.<
WE MUST MARCH ON THE PENN OFFICE OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS
I feel honored to be called sacredXD @SylvRsr jk but thanks! I just think my ECS are really weak and are going to hold me back but meh can’t do anything now:/
Thanks guys
So glad to have a community of people in the same situation to talk to about this
I have blown way too much data on this site
@Makooks Everyone’s app has weaknesses! We all feel like we messed up one or multiple portions of our applications, whether it be GPA/SAT, ECs, or essays. Like @tjgirl123 said, it just depends on what Penn wants this year. It’s out of our hands now. We’ve worked so hard and we really have done what it takes to be admitted!
@Makooks What the heck, could have sworn I typed scared not sacred
One day I’m assuaging people and before you know it I’m the person screaming and crying for help hahah
