🐾 Penn State 🐾 Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

For now, it’s mostly students with 4.0+ GPA, 1400+SAT, 15-20 AP+honors who are hearing.
Students in the 3.5-3.65 range tend to hear at the end of December (and that decision can be ā€œdeferredā€).
Hold on tight. Focus on your other applications and do a good job there too.

Congratulations :tada::clap: to all who heard. Well-deserved :heart:
And thank you to parents who post stats right in their post since it’s very useful to future readers.
If you’re still waiting, this is the hardest period in the cycle… try to step away for the next 4-5 weeks :hugs:
Or, if you really can’t, you and your child can go through each college’s list of majors and choose some your child could pivot to if offered 2+2.

My daughter heard back from Belisario (UP) early Saturday morning. OOS, applied late Sept, 4.35 weighted (unsure of unweighted but only one B in an AP World History class in 10th grade, all other grades are A), 8 AP’s, 3 Dual enrollment.

Thing #2 applied for Earth Science/Geology OOS early. Respectable, but not outstanding record: 3.6 UW (went off the rails Freshman spring semester, which brought his overall GPA down); 1390 SAT; AP Biology, Statistics, Environmental Science, Economics. His ECs focus on outdoor activities like 4H, horse showing, chicken showing, horse counsel, with a lot of leadership roles.

The good news is that he was already accepted at Michigan State and Michigan Tech.

Where do you find the test score button?

It’s on the left, right under ā€œSTARS Record.ā€

What major?

Has anyone received letters yet for Smeal? Son applied Labor Day weekend and has had all materials submitted to PSU since Mid September.

Yes, a few people earlier in this thread mentioned Smeal acceptances (my kid was one of them). Around here If this link works and also here is a link to another Smeal admit

Very very happy for you and for her - I know it was a very big deal. They must have considered her academics met their baseline in terms of achievement&rigor, and her ECs certainly 100% in line with the chosen major would have pushed her past the finish line. Congratulations :tada::clap::clap:
Do you recall if she did the PSU App statement where she could emphasize these ECs and relate them to her chosen major or if she used the CommonApp essay?

Congratulations :tada::clap: That’s an impressive resume so I imagine your child will have plenty of other choices – but it’s always a relief to have a safety, even more so when it’s topnotch. :hugs:
Thank you for posting the stats along with the results. :+1:

She did common app essay. Thank you so much for all your help and guidance. If it helps she wrote about her decision to forgo a full athletic scholarship to pursue healthcare. (Most D1 she was talking with wouldn’t allow her to do both due to clinical/internships/labs) Also has 5 honors, 2 AP’s.

For any kids that received decisions - any for Summer?

Thrilled to share that my daughter has been admitted to Penn State University Park (DUS) for Fall 2026!

She’s an in-state student with a 4.2 weighted GPA, 1340 SAT, and six APs and mostly Honors (with a couple of Cs in those APs along the way).

A huge thank-you to @MYOS1634, @Lucy, and all the amazing parents and students on this thread for your guidance, advice, and reassurance throughout this entire process.

Thank you again and forever grateful.
