Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Decision today. OOS, 3.5 UW, 1270, varsity sports and good EC’s, Political Science major. Did not get in to UP. 2+2 (Harrisburg) Kind of expected after seeing similar stats w/ similar result. All good. Already in to Michigan St. and waiting on Indiana, CU, VT, JMU + others. Just please be aware that first sentence for all 2+2s is that you have been “accepted to Penn State”. The detail is in the 2nd paragraph. Good luck to all!

OOS DUS Deferred:

Thank you for applying to Penn State! We have completed our Early Action review of your application and have chosen to defer your admission decision. Your application remains very much under consideration and will be reviewed again. We know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear, but the extra time will allow a thorough review of your application and provide you with a thoughtful final decision. Your application and required materials have been received, and your final admission decision will be posted by January 31, 2024. No additional action is required at this time. We appreciate your patience as we build our incoming first-year class.

When did you get this?

Did you get this today?

yes, about :20 ago… TO button was still present this morning but gone now…

I thought they were done with deferrals. :pensive:

I’m guessing based on this balance of remaining DUS being deferred due to timing….not a complete sample set yet though. Not ideal…and a letdown

Eeek…me too!

Admissions told me all the deferrals were done over the weekend so now going forward there will be decisions. But I guess deferral could still be a possibility as far as decision.

Perhaps what we are seeing today are the decisions made over the weekend, so some deferrals are still trickling down

My mind is all over the place. This waiting is hard! One minute I’m thinking a deferral is better to hear. The next minute I’m thinking a final decision such as 2 +2 is better we can just move on. Of course my wish is for UP but I’m starting to loose hope with the amount of time it’s taken. Submitted early September. OOS and test optional so not feeling overly optimistic at this point.

same here… OOS / TO… after a UGA denial this feels like a small win… UT-K tomorrow? hopefully brings better news…

My D24k applied for Forensic Science. In state, TO, applied 9/15 and she still hasn’t heard either. I think it’s just random as far as the order/notification - at least that’s what I tell her. She’s gotten in a bunch of schools already so it’s not a nail biter but it’s been a long 3 months. Good luck everyone.

it’s a very scary waiting game, especially the closer we get to the 24th. thats why i love schools that release all on one day. if ur rejected, it rips the bandaid off quick. this waiting game plays mind games on students and they second guess everything and convince themselves they’ll be rejected.
