Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Thank you!

I think this is most likely. My son’s portal was missing the TO button last night. So we logged onto LionPath and found out he got into Smeal but on the Behrend campus. Today in his MyPennState portal there is a big yellow bar that wasn’t there before saying his application record is being updated and he has an information for admitted students
under that. This afternoon we received the email you received. I think if you login to LionPath you will see your child’s admission decision.

I have worked with some of the professors at the Behrend campus business school (they have their own there, Black School of Business, besides Smeal at UP campus). Great and capable instructors there. In fact, my former MBA Supply Chain professor is the interim director of the Behrend business school. As noted in this thread, most of the two year coursework is completion of general education courses before moving to University Park.

Yes - does seem like Behrend is a good satellite campus if that is the way you end up going. But the location…

Most kids don’t mind snow, especially if they don’t have to drive in it. Behrend isn’t really close to a major city (Erie is a smaller city), but then neither is UP. The lakeshore is quite nice in the fall and spring, though winters are long. Probably not the best choice for someone with seasonal affective disorder, but neither are the schools in upstate New York cities/towns (e.g., Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, Ithaca).

If you can afford Summer (LEAP) it really helps for admission to UP when added to a new major request.
The summer courses are freshman requirements so the students start with 6 credits already - there’s even a LEAP for Paterno Fellows/Schreyer Aspirants, LEAP summer courses aren’t weedout (so if you can find an ETM course for your major, it’s good to be taking it alongside CAS100), ā€œpridesā€ (as they call one LEAP group) take their classes together, live together, and have an upperclass student in charge of taking them places and helping them so they make friends quickly, and when Fall comes they already know their way around and are way ahead of other freshmen.

UP benefits bc it decreases odds of kids dropping out (bc they’ve made friends and got 2 required courses out of the way, generally with good grades bc they they were in a small group and only took 2) which impacts their ratings + it allows them to spread out the number of freshmen taking English 15&30, CAS 100, Econ 104, etc etc, all at the same time.

Will the break for the holidays effect the Dec 24th decision date?

Hey, guys. I am just here to give support as we were in your shoes this time last week. Good luck and I wish all of you the best!

Switched back to ā€œYour application is currently under review. We have received everything required to complete your application. Once a decision is made, it will be posted here.ā€

Lord! Was it a glitch?

We had that yesterday as well. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!

So yours is back to under review too?

Another positive thing about the 2+2 program is that the cost for OOS students for the first two years is ~$30,000 ($15,000/year) less than at UP.

hoping for an answer at 7 o’clock. worried.

keep in mind so far this week to buttons have been disappearing around 7:45, rather than the normal 7 from previous weeks. good luck to all waiting!!! (especially myself)

Ok just got an email from PSU about the FASFA. Talk about a tease……before a decision lol

The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available by December 31, 2023. Students new to Penn State should prepare to submit the FAFSA in January 2024.

Create Your FSA ID

To prepare to submit the FAFSA, you should create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. If you have already created an FSA ID, you do not need to create another.
