Hear ye hear ye! We got access to lionpath!!
So, I view this as good news if they basically ātook backā the Harrisburg offer. That means that he may still be a candidate for Fall or Summer at UP and they wanted to be sure. Maybe someone pushed the button too quickly?
If he has requested reconsideration for DUS that will only help. (this is all assuming he doesnāt actually want Harrisburg?) If you are ok with Harrisburg, certainly you can email them back and Iām sure you would be offered that.
Waiting on Smeal and TO buttons disappeared sometime between 5pm and now. It seems some sort of decision is on the way!
expect little. Did your S apply to Schreyer? He certainly will be considered for a Provost award. What major did he apply for?
Do you expect that he will be NMSF? Frequently, there are small awards for that (only freshman year, not renewed). But we didnāt learn about that until Fall when he was AT Penn State, so it was just a nice bonus and unexpected.
If you are truly from SoCal, his geographic diversity will help him, but I donāt know if stats are strong enough⦠(as a point of reference, my kidsā stats were higher and none received a Provost Award.)
Summer Start is offered at commonwealth campuses, though the LEAP program is only at UP. I would assume that students at commonwealth campuses can start as undecided (DUS).
TO button finally gone and access to Lionpath, but nothing in there with any specifics yet! Any ideas on when to expect things to update? Tonight? Tomorrow AM?
Just noticed TO button is gone and now have access to LionPath. Assuming I will see the letter under Communications in a bit?
I know much about the summer program and LEAP. Many incoming athletes also do summer for the same reasons as above (get a jump start on classes as well as start training with team).
All of the info above (thanks @jlhpsu @REMPM @lionesswannabe @kidzncatz ) is terrific. I can only echo what others have said.
Benefits:
- 6 credits under belt
- nervousness about college goes away
- friends!
- figure out dorm life, cafeterias, campus, etc.
- take a harder ETM and make fall manageable
- small class size
Negatives:
- cost
- give up summer (but who really wants to be stuck with your old HS friends anyway?!?)
highly highly recommend.
There have been a lot of questions about aid. I understand that merit wise Penn State does not give much. But do they honor fasfa? I have become really confused about how fafsa works when I see that schools boast the percent of students that they meet need for.
Do you mean that 45 minutes after you saw LionPath you had a letter?
Where is everyone seeing their TO button? Iām very confused
On the PSU Portal on the left side there is an option about TO. If you donāt see it, check lionpath.
I have access to lionpath but the TO button is still there for us. Odd
Yes, Penn State honors FAFSA (Pell and Direct Loan) and the PA state grant program.(the latter available to PA students only). They do not meet or come anywhere close to meeting need for most low to average income families, as they give very little institutional aid, merit or need-based.
I spoke to someone at admissions two weeks ago. I had accidentally sent his lower ACT score instead of his higher one. It was only one point difference and he had already been admitted when I called. I was more concerned about any kind of merit money. The admissions person that I spoke to said that they only give money based on FASFA anymore. Faye said not to bother sending his higher score because itās not going to mean anything (he was not interested in applying to the honors college).
For anyone whoās already been admitted how long was it between your TO button disappearing and receiving your decision?
Roughly about 2 hours ⦠did you try logging in to Lions Path? If you do you will see the application date listed and also the date of admission . That will ease your mind until the letter arrives . Good luck !
I keep telling people here not to use lionpath for decisions, but so far I donāt think anyone has listened to me!
How confusing to get a decision that is taken away!
For those of us just waiting for the letter in the mail vs refreshing the portal, will the letter come before the 24th? Or is that just the decision and the letter could arrive next week?
Has Penn State taken away a decision in lionpath. I saw where one parent stated, they applied for recon and the letter disappeared. Lionpath saves us eager parents about 30-60 mins (which now appears like an eternity). Each year things change. Lionpath is for āadmittedā studentsā¦Iām not sure why you are telling us to to ānot use lionpathāā¦parents, do what is best for you and your students. You paid your application fees, use the tools available to you. Penn State never said ādonāt use lionpathā, In fact, they tell you to use it once admitted on the portal. Maybe just wait for the mail to arrive via USPS. Police societyā¦adults telling other adults āwhat to doā
Somebody told me to notate all my postsā¦
