Son accepted into Smeal UP for Summer today
We got in last Friday 12/15 and our packet came in the mail today !
Snail mail arrives 6-7 (one kid 6, the other 7, your results may vary and past performance is not indicative of future results)days after the decision. Fact in my house for 2….
Note: this was TRUE for us.
Did check portal, engineering 2+2. Any on whether can appeal or how? And likelihood of an appeal working? Appreciate in advance the advice of those with years of experience on the group.

For us it was about 30-45 minutes but the Admission Decision section in MyPennState was also updated with acceptance the next day.

Finally seeing a decision in LionPath (Fall admit) but no portal update yet. Are you saying that the letter posted in LionPath with the acceptance sometimes changes?
Daughter was admitted to DUS University Park for Fall 2024. Did not expect it

It doesn’t change. It’s been reported that if you apply for reconsideration, it could disappear because you were put back in the RD pool.

He should email and ask for reconsideration (a review of his application for a different college which has a similar major), checking Summer (* ) + choosing an Engineering degree from College of Earth&Mineral science or College of Agriculture (check those out!) Bonus, I think these majors are at UP only.
Or if interested in CS, check out majors in IST.
Follow steps detailed in post 2429 by @Luvmykids1 .
*LEAP (summer) adressed in posts (roughly) 2438, 2454, 2488…

You can request reconsideration (not appeal) for another major (or DUS) and/or the addition of summer session as an option.
