Let me echo my congrats to everyone who has been admitted in the last 24-48 hours.
And hoping those still waiting have a portal update today.

Yep !
My son was accepted to Smeal UP for summer. He had his heart set on PSU but also got into U of SC last week for sports management (his preferred major) and wants to work a lot this summer, so sadly I donāt think he will be a Nittany Lion. Will see what he decides!
There are two answers to this - one, people are trying to log into Lion Path as a portal for admissions overtaxes the system and causes issues in Lionpath which is what the entirety of the student population at all Penn State campuses use. Two, the information in LionPath may not be the most accurate as they update the portal for admissions. A good example is the person who posted that that had a decision on the portal which changed, but Lionpath has the outdated information.
At the end of the day, Lionpath is NOT intended to be used as an admission decision portal. While you can log in after acceptance to accept your admission etc, that is very different than thousands of prospective students trying to log in every few minutes to see if they CAN get into Lionpath.
Hang in there everyone. Admissions stated to me that decisions will come throughout the weekend even though they are not in the office. The decisions are loaded into the computer and the computer sends the acceptances out through batches to the portal. But please note that all the application documents should have been in by the nov 1 deadline to get the dec 24th deadline decision.
sigh - I answered this question a minute ago so you can scroll up to see it. But in short, itās not intended to be a decision portal and thousands of students refreshing all of the time causes issues in the system - which every Penn State student uses regularly.
I am not policing, Iām MODERATING and Iāve had to do it more this admission season than others.
Still waiting here. Architecture major.
You should have added your disclaimer to this post because this is not true.
@REMPM A person on this board reported that their portal decision disappeared but the admission letter remained on Lionpath. They called and were told NOT to use Lionpath as a decision portal because itās not updated the same way the portal is. Communications do not disappear from Lionpath. All communications are kept there as a record.
That said, itās unlikely that your portal will say anything different than the letter in Lionpath. Only portal decisions will disappear if you ask for reconsideration, but Lionpath keeps a record.
And my daughter is accepted to DUS at UP! OOS, 4.14 Weighted, 1270 SAT, some DE classes, 3 APs, competitive gymnast so not alot of other ECs due to time commitment for her sport. And also has a weekend job.
For those of you who are admitted, the portal has a button to āAccept Admissions Offerā. Does that take us to LionPath or is it true acceptance?
Hi that was me. I called and initially she said that but then when she looked at the Art major, no portfolio requirements and I had confirmed on the website back in Oct. She confirmed we are in for EA after looking up the student number.
He did not check his portal every day after he received his 2+2 decision. Of course we were not excited about the 2+2 decision. After a week we checked the portal again and thought of sending an email asking for reconsideration to UP campus, the decision was gone and he was deferred. He could log into Lion Path only after getting admitted.
After a little digging into his portal the admission counselor we spoke agreed that there was a past decision. As the portal says he is deferred now, she suggested that we wait till January 31st for the new decision.
If nothing else, it is peace of mind to know that she is still EA. Hopefully, there will be a decision and not a deferral!
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to all of the students who have been admitted in the last few days (and before that!)! Nursing and Smeal decisions are especially notoriously competitive so itās a special achievement to gain admission to those majors. I am smiling reading the happy decisions!
Welcome to the Penn State community! Penn State is an amazing place and the alumni and student communities are passionate in their support for Penn State. You can be almost anywhere in the world wearing a Penn State shirt and someone will yell āWE AREā¦!ā to you. It has happened to me all over the world (Even China!).
Itās a special place and Iām so happy to see so many wanting to be a part of it!
Look up the true start and meaning of āWE AREā¦ā and it will explain a lot about how and why we are so passionate about a place.
Congrats again to everyone! So So excited for you all!
CONGRATS!!! Itās been a long wait but you did it!!! We are
Itās strange to have a āprior decisionā but that works out really well for you. Hopefully the deferral means a UP admit in January! Iāve honestly never heard of a decision being posted and then removed. I can only surmise that it was human error. How confusing for your son! But Iām glad heās still āin itā and hope for a UP decision for him!
OMG. My son submitted his SRAR on November 4 and thought they needed everything by November 15⦠He mightāve got it confused with other schools. Oh I feel so bad
Iām sorry to hear that. Are there any schools to which your daughter has been admitted to direct admission nursing? With so many nursing programs in Pennsylvania, surely she will be admitted to some, though they may be smaller schools than she originally hoped for.
Iām a college advisor at a large high school and in a counselor Zoom with Penn State they told us they only read essays in a small fraction of the applications. Not in the Common App part, only in the Penn State section of CA.
Hoping that he will be considered for University park and we will forget about all these later. Thank you!
