Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Agree! My daughter’s 31 ACT was borderline but she had 4s and 5s on APs and got her decision on the first day them came out.

Sorry for the TYPO

I just checked my FAFSA parent account… submitted 1/07…in review…

On the MyPennState app, after selecting financial aid, it says this:

Your financial aid ofer for 2024-25 is ready for your review. Please visit studentaid.psu.edu/aid-notification/instructions for detailed instructions on how to view your offer. Your Financial Aid Offer Summary includes the types and amounts of aid you are eligible to receive in 2024-25 based on the information you submitted on the FAFSA. It also includes estimated costs for 2024-25.

Steps to view your Financial Aid Award Summary:

  1. Log in to LionPATH using your Penn State Account.
  2. Complete your Consent To Do Business Electronically Agreement.
  3. Select View Financial Aid under the Finance Section.

Under that, it says Action Items and says the FAFSA was received.

I was out up for reconsideration (finally) on Thursday. Any idea when I should hear back with an updated decision?

We applied for reconsideration about 4 weeks ago and still have not heard.

We’re at about 5 weeks now… to be fair, the academic advisor did say 4-6 weeks. :woman_shrugging:

That’s good to know. I’m pretty sure I also saw on website by end of January?

D asked for reconsideration 1/2 and we are still awaiting an answer.

If it makes you feel any better, the class of 2027 data reports that the middle 50% of reported ACT scores was 29-33, so, I wouldn’t call that borderline. If scores were mandatory, she’d be in the high end!

Have they been releasing it? I thought it was delayed again.

oh so i have quite a bit more waiting to do! lol

Do you mean is FAFSA delayed in sending data to schools? I haven’t seen anything to that effect.

That’s what schools are telling families. I’ve had emails saying the schools are not expecting to see anything until mid-late February. The recent news about the adjustments to the inflation formula could be another monkey wrench.

Maybe the schools are offering a worst-case estimate to stave off calls.

But nobody really knows. A FA rep at a small Catholic college told me today she’s never seen anything like it and she thinks mid Feb is very optimistic.

I’m familiar with the inflation formula, but didn’t think that was delaying sending data to the schools. Maybe it is. The whole thing has been poorly managed. I’m sure school FA offices are unhappy places to be working these days.

We could all be waiting on FA packages into April - doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility.

I’m not sure how the process works but my daughter had originally gotten 2/2 Altoona for communications. She called immediately and asked for reconsideration for UP and was admitted to Bellisario. She let me know yesterday she went online and declined both Altoona and UP. I’m proud of her for moving forward with other options, and also hopefully, though I know it’s not a 1:1 ratio, this opens up another spot for ppl who are looking to get to UP. Best of luck!!!

Did all she have to do is click a “Decline” button, or did she have write an email to admissions? My son is going to decline his CS spot at UP, and he said he needed to write to someone and that it was more than clicking a button? We were wondering that since there is no going back that they don’t want people accidentally hitting a button, and put thought into their final PSU decision…
