Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

First year engineering classes are open to students in pre-engineering or in DUS - so there would be no difference in access.

I actually spoke to Admissions this afternoon. The woman I spoke to said they update just once a day, and not to bother checking many times each day.

My spouse is a PSU nursing prof – just for further information, the NCLEX pass rate for PSU is 97%. Also, the BSN is becoming the entry-level requirement for most nursing jobs in the nation – they aren’t all there yet, but it’s moving that way nationally (I’m told). My spouse is at UP, but she says Altoona is also a fantastic nursing program, with a similarly high NCLEX pass rate. In some ways, Altoona is even better than UP because the hospital in Altoona is a trauma center (more advanced) than the small local hospital we have here in State College so students there get better hospital experiences. Nursing is one of the most difficult schools to get into at Penn State so congrats to all those who get in!

He did and he decided to stick with Economics. I believe there are only 2 pathways to Smeal. Direct Admission or from DUS. He would have been able to move from Liberal Arts to DUS during New Student Orientation.

What’s the NPC? I also just got in to TJU. Waiting on a response from VT and Temple as well. (I applied undecided engineering for Temple.) I am applying regular decision to the rest of my schools.

Oddly it changed BACK to the original!!! I’m glad I got a photo or I would think I was going crazy. So who knows!

My daughter got into nursing major. She just found out tonight by checking the portal.
Her Stat:
SAT 1420
GPA weighted 4.3
4 year varsity dance team, last year team co-captain
Summer job experience
Good recommendation from her sports medicine teacher
Applied on 10/22/23

My son has not (nor have I seen any acceptance posts here under Agriculture yet). I’m a member of a '28 PSU group on Facebook…no ag acceptances seen there either.

Do you have the exact name of the FB group? Would like to join. Thanks

The NPC is the Net Price Calculator. You’re supposed to run it to know how much the college will cost and make sure it’s within budget. It’s an essential tool when making your list of colleges since it’s pointless to apply to an unaffordable college.
PSU is notoriously stingy with merit and very expensive in the 1st place, so running the NPC is very important - and for other colleges as well, keeping in mind most financial aid comes from the colleges themselves, then from federal and state sources, and then only you apply for small private/local scholarships to help with books etc.

I don’t see that exact name under FB groups? Are you sure that’s the name? I see something but it’s asking us to ā€œsubscribeā€ to something…

Has anyone heard anything back from the College of Earth & Mineral Sciences? Geosciences major?

There are typically ā€œclass of xxā€ pages - they are sponsored by weird companies (student hub or humans of … ) Lots of advertising and spam. Just look closely.

There are also big (HUGE) parents pages. They sometimes get overwhelming or may be an admin with an agenda or may be a special interest group. Don’t be afraid to snooze or jump out of a group if you discover you don’t like the content.

If you feel so inclined, be an admin for a parent run page - but it is a bunch of work at the beginning.
