Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

That’s right - just a short time left for all EA decisions and whatever the outcome is meant to be. I know its hard but try to step away from it and leave it in your kid’s hands. The waiting is difficult for them too. My S24 fell in love with PSU the moment we set foot on the campus. We visited twice; a basic admissions tour in April and Summer Days open house in July and I would like nothing more than for him to receive an acceptance to UP. Hang in there. Wishing you all the best.

Has anyone heard back for international politics?

Agreed! Penn State Nursing is a terrific program.
The most recent year of NCLEX pass rates for Penn State is 87% per the PA Dept of State. They don’t separate out the commonwealth campuses, however, so I’d guess the pass rate for UP is higher. It’d be more helpful if they did - especially if UP is 97%!

They’ve been talking about phasing out the ADN level of nursing for decades and it hasn’t happened yet - and I doubt it will happen in the future because of the nursing shortage. That being said, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to have a BSN - not at all…I have a BSN. I was talking about the return on investment - that’s all.

I know what they say, and then I know what they do.

They always say they only update once a day, but over the last 10 years, they have updated more often closer to the deadline.
I don’t know why they tell people otherwise - maybe to help parents and students stop refreshing all day - I don’t know. There is also a new director of enrollment so maybe this is the first year they will do that. Regardless, I’d still check only once a day to keep yourself from going crazy. But likely, the week prior to the 24th, there will be more than one daily update.

Do we believe a human touches a majority of the applications? It has become unclear over time to me…thoughts?

Yes, humans read and review applications. That’s why it takes so long.

Yes, humans are involved throughout the process.

Yes, a human reviews each application. When you call admissions, the people who answer the phone are not the ones looking at the applications. You have to ask for an admissions officer and they will transfer you to one if available. While GPA and test scores take up the majority of the application decision, there is also a holistic approach taken - especially in borderline applicants.

The applications to the Commonwealth campuses go directly there to be reviewed, which is why the timeline for Commonwealth campus direct applications is much faster…significantly fewer applications.
If it were all completed via computer algorithms, the timetable would be much quicker and they certainly wouldn’t need a staff of admissions officers.

Yes, my S24 got his acceptance a couple weeks ago for EMS, not Geoscience.
He did apply early.’ I’m sure it’s coming, hang tight.

I am afraid if it was all done by computer the school would miss out on some excellent candidates for admission.

Among early action applicants who applied to UP campus, has anyone heard of any rejections to UP campus?
This would include denial to UP with an acceptance at a different campus.
