You likely don’t have a specific one. You can email admissions or call and ask to speak to an actual admissions officer - not the people who answer the phone. Any admission counselor can answer your questions.
and does anyone know the competitiveness of advertising/pr or did anyone get an acceptance to the major yet?
@Zips6109 We are in state. My son got deferral. His friends - one to UP in kinesiology with average stats; 2-3 friends were outright denied admission (engineering); others got 2+2 to the local campus for other majors. Seems quite variable as to majors, stats, campuses.
Hi all… we checked Lion Path last evening and we had our acceptance in there . TO tab was gone shortly before hand .

twinnn
Yes, my son did.
so we DO think we’ll get some tonight at 7? or no
No…based on last weeks…
dang. that means there’s like 4 more releases i have no idea how they’ll get to everyone
Simple. Deferrals.
i really hope they release some decisions. do they do it exactly at 7 or around 7? i would hate to be deffered after i have waited 13 weeks.
10 weeks here so yeah that would feel awful
A true deferral is ok, but to simply defer everyone just because they could not get to all the applications is BS. This happened at Ohio State 2 years ago. These kids work way too hard on their applications and meet the required EA deadline and as such, the school needs to hold up its end of the agreement by fairly reviewing each application and releasing an honest decision, not simply deferring due to lack of time. Either push the release date back for EA or hire more staff. They could also work weekends to get the work done. It’s that simple.
couldn’t agree more
I know I already said it, but I’ll share some thoughts again. Penn state had large freshmen classes the last two years - yield was higher than expected. A percent or two change in yield means supplemental forms or no dorm rooms or forced triples.
They may be being extra cautious with who (really how many) they are going to admit to fall (and summer, because ultimately, they translate to UP fall). They may want to see the entire RD pool.
If there were 10-15k more applications than expected, it is really difficult to hire admissions counselors on the fly.
Deferral was always an option. I get it - you don’t like it. You can always change to 2+2 and I’m sure you would get an admit letter immediately.
i’ll give them some credit for now, because it looks like it was very similar around this time last year and they met the deadline with few deferrals. i’ll save the freak out for the 22nd
Don’t worry, your stats are so much better than mines and I was accepted as a psych major last night too. You got this!!!
