First time a week. Second time a few weeks. Changed to DUS summer start and then liberal arts economics summer start and neither moved him off the 2+2 option
You were able to do 2 reconsiderations? I thought they allowed for one reconsideration.
Now that you said that I think his first reconsideration was denied bc it wasnât outside of DUS so he had to redo it with another major so hence why I thought he did it twice.
Think theyâre counting the 1st time as when they were notified the reconsideration request needed to be changed to a different college.
To my understanding, you can submit more than one reconsideration request to a satellite campus, but only one to the main campus.
@MYOS1634 I saw above that you said for an appeal of you reconsideration a major thing and to have happened. I was in a serious car accident last october (beginning of my junior year) and i suffered head injuries and a brian bleed and when i returned to school i struggles and my gpa and overall grades took a hit. Can i use this for an appeal or a reason for another reconsideration? if so how do i tell them this and who do i contact
What were your grades Jr year and senior year, subject by subject?
Will your family doctor or pediatrician agree to confirm what happened?
aound 7 weeks for us
My doctor/pediatrician can confirm all of it.
My senior year quarter one grades:
Honors Theology 4-92
Honors English 4- 93
Honors Stats- 93
Gov-econ-94
Honors Psych- 93
Accounting-92
My Junior year final grades:
Honors Theology 3- 87
Honors English 3- 84
Functional Analysis-91
forensic science- 90
Honors Engineering-83
Personal finance-92
My first half Junior year grades were incredibly low including my midterms but i worked hard to get them back to respectable
hoping for reconsideration for communications as i think my courses and grades align more with that
@MYOS1634 thoughts?
Do separate first semester and second semester grades to highlight the impact of the accident (can your GC provide term by term transcripts?) It would also show your ability to turn around.
Apply to Media Studies or Telecommunications.
There may be a problem with rigor: no foreign language level 3&4, no AP/IB, no US/World/European history, no Physics. Since yours is a private school, perhaps highlight the % who attend 4-year colleges to indicate general rigor.
You should find a button on your portal. Good luck and donât forget to return&let us know!
@MYOS1634 Thanks for the help!!
@MYOS1634 Admissions did not allow for another reconsideration even after telling them about last year and my accident. Can I reapply regular decision under a different email?
Does anyone know when the PSU Engineering scholarships will be announced?
You were not asking for reconsideration (had already done so) but an APPEAL. These are two different things but I think now you used up all your cartridges so to speak.
Itâs probably obvious but, no, you cannot pretend to be someone else with another email.
You have been denied from one of your reaches. If it doesnât happen to some of your applications, it means you didnât dare stretch and reach. But by definition reaches typically end up in non admission, which is why you have matches/targets, likelies, and 2 affordable safeties when you build your list. You tried but it was a reach so this is an unhappy but not totally surprising result. I know it must be disappointing but itâs time to move on to âuniversities that love you backâ.
If you donât have affordable acceptances you like, there are still universities, both in PA and in other states, accepting applications, depending on what youâre interested in.
Franky I wouldnât feel comfortable attending a branch campus that has fewer than 500 students. If you can commute and transition to Main campus in 2 years itâs probably safe but someone should reconsder attending part time or accepting a job unless itâs understood to be temporary.
Reading about the possible closure of some Penn State campuses on the news does not look good for the future, especially for 2+2 students. This situation directly affects my family, as our son was offered the 2+2 program, and we are currently waiting for reconsideration. I do think they are trying to maintain these campuses and jobs by utilizing the 2+2 program. However, there is a difference between acceptance and actual enrollment.
In our case, Penn State was our top priority, but now we are considering other colleges where my son was also accepted as potentially better alternatives for his future. Additionally, the decline in birth rates from 2007 to 2021 is likely to lead to the closure of several colleges across the nation, as they will not have enough students enrolled to sustain their infrastructure and pay staff.
My personal POV is that they may not close ALL sub-campuses, but consolidate them to a few. Campuses like Harrisburg are large enough to be closed easily, and I think they offer some full fledged programs.
