Penn State Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

My son’s TO button has disappeared but no letter yet.

do they reject the last day?

This group has been very helpful so I wanted to give info to use as stats.

We got the letter a few moments ago and found on lionpath.

TO, GPA Weighted 4.1 . 6AP total and 11 Honors (and one DE). Your typical EC including varsity sports, NHS, DECA, etc. Applied DUS (willing to do summer start). Sent in 8/10 (yes a long wait). Applied not on common app, but though PSU. Legacy parent. Current Sibling there. In State residency.

Just got excepted UP for summer DUS. Take that as whatever gauge you may. Congratulations to all who recieved letters they wanted. Fingers crossed for all others that you can pivot to what you like

DD just got accepted to Summer DUS. Her TO button was still there at 730. I randomly checked again at 930 and it was gone! I was able to log into Lion Path and find her letter under Communications.
She applied DUS - first choice was summer start U Park. 3.83 WGPA TO OOS (NJ) Mother and Brother are alumni.

Best of luck to all the students waiting for their decisions!

HELP!!! D just got 2 + 2 for DUS at Erie - inconsolable, sobbing. The TO button disappeared and then she logged in to Lionpath and saw the letter under Comms. My question is, where is the button for the reconsideration request? Or do you just call or email? Any suggestions for other majors? She is interested in elementary education and possibly HHD as options. Should she also say straight summer start in the reconsideration request? We don’t have much hope it will work but it worth a try.

:cry::hugs::hugs:
What’s her unweighted GPA?
What are her highest math, foreign language?
ECs with little kids (Sunday school, coaching, summer camp…)?

She can write an email highlighting her motivation for the new major&how it matches her academic/ECs background, perhaps join first quarter grades if they’re good (with no indication whatsoever that they’ll be considered but can’t hurt).
That can wait till tomorrow or even Monday if she feels terrible.

What about Agribusiness with a Marketing option?
Otherwise, Econ (BS) is probably a good bet.
That being said, he’ll need to get excellent grades first semester to switch to DUS and try for Smeal - if he doesn’t have a 3.3+ GPA (keeping in mind there will be weedout courses in the Spring too, regardless of when he does Econ 104+Math 111 -*-, and Econ 102…) it makes Smeal more unlikely. He should aim for As/Bs regardless of where he starts.

*Assuming a 4 or 5 score on the Calculus exam.

Reconsideration request should appear once the decision is synchronized from lionpath in the application portal after midnight.
I can imagine how hard it must be, but don’t lose hope.

She has 3.5 UW 4.0 W, first quarter grades all As, has 3 APs and 4 honors. she submitted her 27 ACT maybe that was a mistake? She did submit the Q1 grades earlier though by email, not sure if they read them in to her app. 150 volunteer hours, a lot with youth cheer camps, cheerleader all 4 years, softball, foreign language 3 years….

I didn’t see a button for reconsideration though. It hurts because others from her school with worse academics got in to specific majors. Oh also what about hospitality
management is that competitive?

Penn state does not consider senior grades even for RD pool; they are explicit about it.

Thank you - is is a separate email to admissions or is it an email that comes up with the reconsideration button? And it can take a while to hear back, correct? Also I responded below with grades etc. sorry still figuring this out!

Yes, quite competitive.

An easy option is to apply for the foreign language that she reached level 3 in but if her school offers level 4, it probably won’t cut it.

27 is not bad and wouldn’t have a negative impact.

Was the cheer youth camp specifically kids under 10-12? (For Elementary Ed)

Also highest math is honors business calculus this year. Before that it was Trig I think.

I know but… It can’t hurt and this way no regrets for kids who are worried sick.

@MYOS1634 do you know the answer to this?
