Here’s my suggestion: please call them first thing Monday morning. They are usually very good with advising you live; one of the best AO office in my opinion; it’s their process which had made things nerve wrecking and frustrating for some of us. My best wishes, I’m rooting for you and your kid.

Yes for kids under 10-12. What about HHD family studies? Just not sure how to make a case for that one. She has had a job for 3 years too working s a short order cook in a pool snack bar. What about the RPTM or is that something that requires subjects in line with that?

Otherwise, since she coached younger kids, she can apply for Elementary Ed or the 4-8 Ed certification program.

Just wanted to share with the community as I’ve made several posts and got advice from several of you that my daughter was accepted to Penn State Main tonight for DUS with a summer start. I noticed we were able to login to LionPath around 8:00 tonight but there was no letter but it showed up about an hour later.
Some of her stats: We are out of state from Georgia, 3.76 weighted and 3.65 unweighted -Test Optional. 3 AP courses and 8 Honors courses. She attends a small private high school so there were less opportunities for some of the advanced course. Solid ECs including Editor of Yearbook, good volunteer hours which included Dance Marathon, internship with a Fortune 500 and work experience.
Also, one other nugget of information is that we reclassified her application last Thursday from Smeal to DUS. Now we will ask for a second look for Smeal but figure we are playing with house money now that we locked down the acceptance.
I’m an alum and very happy house here tonight. Penn State has been far and away her number 1.

Son finally got his response, 2+2 accepted to Berks Smeal. He’s slightly bummed but going to take the weekend to weigh his options and take a hard look at doing the 2+2 instead of asking for a reconsideration. Lots of positives to do the 2+2 we need to think on but still wasn’t what he’s wanted.
His stats again:

One question he did have, if he asks for a reconsideration for DUS can he still decide to accept the 2+2 to or will that be out the window?

anyone else’s kiddo feeling super discouraged? I think because her college counselors assured her she had a very strong application that she allowed herself to fall in love with the school. Now its the week before the deadline, thousands have heard but she has not. She is unable to start in summer and so did not check that box and we know engineering is very competitive but shes had strong rigor and straight A’s. I wish PSU would submit the acceptance rates per college and major by campus so prospective students could set realistic expectations.

So unfortunately the news I received was not what I had hoped for. I was offered 2+2 at Altoona.
I want to ask for reconsideration and would appreciate some advice.
I had applied TO DUS UP fall with yes to the summer option.
I have a 3.7 W and 3.7 UW GPA.
Grades 9-11: 4 honors classes
Grade 12: 2 honors, 1 AP
Math- geometry, Algebra 2, Algebra 3, currently taking pre-calculus
History- honors freshman, junior, senior year
Science- environmental, biology, chemistry, currently taking anatomy and physiology
Strong EC, sports, music, theatre, varsity captain, multiple clubs with leadership positions
Worked 2 jobs junior and senior year throughout the school year
100 + volunteer hours, about 15 with kids
I was thinking HHD bio behavioral health. Are there other options that would be less competitive and offer a better chance at UP?
Also I want to go to the summer session, so when I ask for reconsideration should I say summer only?

I believe if he asks for reconsideration for DUS and does not get University Park, he’d probably get 2+2 for DUS.
Same. Looking at CDS, Navience, Niche, and all the other tools and data and info, the stats fit and should be in. However, nothing so far. I really wish notifications were all on the same day. This anxiety and waiting is not fun. Ugh. It seems like there is no way to predict anymore and that what sucks the most.
