Ewwww, gag, yuck!

Much better, LasMa ;)

I am waiting for the Ray Gricar cold case to be revived.

"After the revelations about the Penn State sex abuse scandal in which it was revealed that Gricar had declined to prosecute Jerry Sandusky, well-known forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht said that “I believe that his disappearance is almost certainly related to this Penn State debacle.”[23] He continued, “You’ve got his car being found, locked with cellphones inside. The computers found and the hard drive is found there in the river. The body is never found. Looks to me like it was staged.”[23] "
[Ray Gricar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Ray Gricar - Wikipedia)

There are a few more layers to the Sandusky/Paterno/Penn State scandal yet to be uncovered.

!!?#%!?&%!!

I hope Dottie inadvertently reveals something in the writing of the book to get herself indicted.

Just when you thought Jerry Sandusky couldn’t get any more repellent.

What a piece of work that man is.

I’m still getting responses from the BOT and the Alumni Assoc. to messages I sent them last month as replies to the emails I get from them.
My last, in July:
“You still continue to do the minimum knee jerk reaction to make people think we care. If your child was the one raped last year after Paterno played interference, would you feel it is sufficient that his statue was removed? Until we purge the honors granted to that man - scrap the statue and melt it, remove his name from the library, and publicly cut our links with that man, I am ashamed to be associated with this institution. Every organization has bad people - it’s whether the rest of us try to mitigate the severity of their actions or be candid determines whether our organization deserves any respect.”

And the response from the alum assoc this morning:
"Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I apologize for the delayed response. Many alumni have expressed a wide range of viewpoints and emotions, and the Alumni Association is continuing to listen to and respond to alumni, while providing information and offering support. We appreciate your feelings and will share them with others at the University.

Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely,
William Toy 97
Penn State Alumni Association"

Paula Ammerman, BOT office wasn’t this neutral in her response - she firmly defended their actions thus far.

Dadof3 - what exactly were you expecting as a response?

Agree, tomofboston. It has every appearance of a mob hit. But whether it was an actual mob hit, or staged to look like a mob hit with Gricar disappearing with a satchel full of cash in exchange for not revealing what he had uncovered, remains to be determined. Notwithstanding persistent rumors that Paterno had mob affiliations going back to his childhood in a tough section of Brooklyn, I very much doubt Paterno or Sandusky had the wherewithal to pull off something like that. But if Sandusky got caught up in broader child porn and/or pedophilia rings (as some uncorroborated stories are now claiming) and Gricar caught wind of that, I could very well imagine mob involvement, and either a hit or a payoff to silence him, staged to look like a hit. Or a federal witness protection action staged to look like a mob hit, to get mobsters off Gricar’s trail.

I guess if no one reopens the case, I’d be inclined toward the latter possibility, because it would suggest the feds leaned on state and local investigators to let the thing go.

LasMa - That is my concern as well, that they believe they’ve found a loophole in having potential profits go to his wife.

hope the book goes the same route as the one OJ was going to write, public opinion canned it.

Penn State is going to host a 2-day conference on child abuse at the end of October. I guess that’s encouraging.

Interesting article in USA Today this morning about the range of conflicting emotions regarding JoePa. The PennStaters in my family go back and forth every day regarding further investigation as to his involvement: If its good–“they need to investigate and exonerate this innocent man who only did ONE wrong thing in his life” to, if its bad-“Can’t they let this poor man rest in peace, he is not here to defend himself”–I really feel that it is important to continue the investigation of Paterno, to give immunity to everyone involved so that the truth can come out, to look at what was going on under the radar at PSU even apart from the Sandusky situation–to the lawyers in the group–can a person be convicted of crimes even after their death–obviously, they can’t be jailed–but can they still be put on trial so that wrongdoings are officially documented for history?

^^I’m not a lawyer, but I’m pretty sure that dead people cannot be convicted nor even tried for crimes.

We will never know for sure, but given everything that has come out about Paterno, and his family’s PR bumbling after the fact, it would surprise me if anyone in that family has ever thought about anyone or anything but Joe and his public legacy.

During the mid-1970s,Tony Dorsettwas an All-American running back for the University of Pittsburgh. (He later became an All-Pro for the Dallas Cowboys.) With Pitt hosting Notre Dame during one of those seasons, I made the journey across state and watched Dorsett run wild against the Irish.

During a postgame interview, Dorsett was asked if Penn State recruited him. Not up front, he said, but added that after he’d signed with Pitt, there was contact. He was asked to meet with a group from State College at a clandestine site north of Pittsburgh. Paterno, Dorsett said, was with the group, urging him to dump Pitt and assist the Nittany Lions in continuing to be a dominant power. Dorsett chose to honor his agreement.

The following day, I attempted to reach Paterno for comment. The call was not returned. But, after an article quoting Dorsett appeared, the phone rang.

It was Paterno, and he was livid.

“Stories like that undermine our goal of building a new image for Eastern football,” I was told.

My reply was to say, “That seems an odd way of doing it. Isn’t Pitt in the East?”

He hung up.

I am still pondering the possible title of Sandusky’s next book. How can he possibly top that first one???

^^^Retouched? Horseplay?

Horseplay! Perfect, in an… excuse the pun… ars backward kind of way

I agree. Instead of the Paterno family and other groups who are spending lots of $$$$ suing the NACC for imposing sanctions w/o an investigation they should spend their money on a more thorough and complete investigation. They apparently dont believe the Freeh report was sufficient. Of course another investigation may uncover things they which had remained buried.
