Where does the social scene go to? I suppose frat parties never occur in the summer?

And think low-cost / best-value socialising – I don’t have the money to eat out on the Corner, I don’t have a fake ID to get into bars (nor would I be able to afford such ventures) and the AFC stops being free after May 31st (until Move-In Day). I’d like to hang out with people who are present in C’ville (i.e. fb doesn’t count), outside the context of bus drivers, work study receptionists, graduate TAs and research supervisors, and preferably with people who aren’t just here to attend a conference.

(Also, there needs to be some sort of Summer Support Group mailing list or fb group or something.)

Well, there is an intermittent social scene…first year orientation ;)

I did all three summer sessions in '07 and there was a fair amount of people still around, and I think UPC had various summer activities and get togethers…not a ton of things, but something.

And there’s always Fridays after Five downtown.

isn’t that kind of defeating the honor code anyways

so i stayed in cville last summer and my roommate used to go to the afc and swim and she was NOT the type to pay to do that… is it a new thing?

last year there were at least 2 fb groups for summer cville stuff i was in… i’m sure there are groups this yr

Hahaha, I remember our orientation leaders discussing their fake ID experiences with us…

Search keeps bringing up graduate stuff … I’m not taking UVA law in DC …

Well it’s free if you’re enrolled for a summer session, but I’m just working (off Grounds and in a lab). Otherwise it’s 50 dollars for a half-summer or 85 dollars for access during the whole summer.

There are still a lot of parties on JPA… died down a little bit after graduation but you can almost find one (of course not comparable to those official ones when school’s in session) every night… the week before graduation was crazy…

Okay it sucks without informants. Specifically upperclassmen informants who would know that sort of stuff (since all of mine are back home now).
