Perfectly Prep- "Bolton"

i personally hoped it wouldn’t get out that this was about pomfret but i suppose that was inevitable… honestly as a student who is in dr. chase’s class and is currently studying the book i believe the school has changed dramatically since the study was done and pomfret moved to a one strike policy… i think all schools tend to go through their cycles and i’m surprised pomfretchick feels that in 2009 it applied currently… yes kids do get kicked out for drugs, sex, or alcohol from time to time but i have felt zero pressure from my community to participate and if i hadn’t know of the dc cases i wouldn’t think it even existed here… people are much less cliquey and there isn’t the tension between students of different ethnic or economic backrounds… people tend to get along although you will eventually find your group of friends and people you prefer to hang out with as you would anywhere… bottom line is if you are going away to school with something hundred teenagers there are bound to be some kids that’ll make a stupid mistake even if you go to exeter… the difference now is at pomfret there isn’t pressure to do those stupid things… you’ll have to seek trouble if you want to find it and if you do that you’ll get in trouble no matter where you go

also to 2kidsnoanswers my sophomore year i was at an all boys school and hated it… i feel as if the students there were much more mean as part of male competition and there was an extreme pressure to exceed in athletics even to a point as a very motivated athlete i did not enjoy… i feel as if there weren’t as many opportunities to explore other areas of interest either because the school didn’t offer them or socially it wasn’t accepted (although i’ve never been one to go with the social norms)… i think people are much more supportive of the arts here and when i tried dance last year i found i had another passion i didn’t eve know about… if i stayed at my single sex school i wouldn’t have discovered it because girls tend to be the ones interested in dance and if there is a lack of interest a single sex school might say why waste time hiring a dance teacher? i’ve thoroughly enjoyed participating in dance shows and i’ve received compliments from both boys and girls alike

Hah, I’m pretty sure I went to school (different class) with the author’s husband! Geez louise it’s a small world.

Thanks for your perspective on Pomfret, Prepper. It’s great to hear from current students. Nothing like the thoughts of someone who is actually going to the school right now. It’s wonderful that you had a chance to try dance & discover a new passion.

thanks i’m glad i could help
