Philadelphia airport snowstorm - Part 2

Done. Sorry.

Bookworm:

Hope your S made it to NH safely! It rained all day yesterday in MA, but today it’s dry with intermittent blazing sunshine.

Marite, short text that he made it to NH OK. Thanks for your concern. (He’s a man of very few words.) First time he was on Amtrak.

I e-mailed him to look out for a great gal from Texas.

As previously mentioned, with S’s karma, it will snow in Boston next weekend. Best to stock up on the essentials.

Igloo, my H got out of PHL early this morning, after a fairly quick de-icing. I guess he made the right decision after all. Now let’s see if the intense rain here lets up so his flight isn’t delayed into SFO…

I’m hoping for good weather next weekend. S will be coming on for spring break on the Megabus!

Curm…Pepes and Sallys have great pizza in New Haven. If she asks someone to take her for New Haven pizza, they will know exactly where to go. BUT lines are usually LONG.

hey, bookworm. I think she’s going to try to tour the main campus Saturday afternoon. he can look for her there. ;)

She loved the med school. She had a great day.

Kathyc - Glad it worked out for your H.

Oh, my … curm’s D is already picking the med school. Where did the time go?? Seems like yesterday she was picking the undergrad school. :)

What’s great about CC is that we get to know others’ kids over time, and delight in their successes, commiserate when they stumble, and fret as they made these major choices.

Son finally checked in last night. Seems he stayed an extra day.

What was the final verdict from the weekend?

Thanks for asking, Busyparent. Son says he was treated VERY well. Soon he heads to Boston for last interview. I hope that one of these terrific schools shows him the love with an acceptance.

bookworm and curm, i hope in the end both of you share your children’s decisions. at this point, some of us are a tad invested in their stories !

Thanks, Kat. First acceptance today!! He’ll have a ‘home’ next year.

Congrats to bookworm’s S!

Marite,

I just heard it is snowing in Boston. I hope not enough to interfere with your son’s visit home.
Son with the snow karma flies in tomorrow.

bookworm:

Thanks for checking! It snowed a little bit, just a few flakes, this morning and it’s supposed to snow tomorrow, again a little bit. I don’t think it should interfere with your son’s travel. I hope his visit goes well.
Friday–touch wood–it’s supposed to be sunny. Let’s hope it stays that way. S’s coming home mostly to see his grandmother who has been ailing and is in hospital right now. She is really looking forward to seeing him.

Argh… It’s started to snow. It’s warm, so it’s not staying on the ground. Let’s hope it does not disrupt air travel!

Ooh!Ooh! I somehow didn’t see this till now. Big congrats. I hope its a “keeper”! (and with what I remember , he didn’t have any “culls”).

Share? As in share with y’all? Absolutely. Share as in agree with her? Sakes alive. I haven’t the foggiest idea what I would do in her place. There are so many variables. It’s getting tense in our conversations as dad always talks about quality of life issues and D always talks about curriculum and training and research opps. Things that are waaaay off my grid. (We both talk about “affordability”.)

Typical recent conversation: Honey. Pick the place that would make you happiest day to day. They are all excellent schools. You are not picking between a '74 Simca and a new Benz. Balanced life , remember? “Dad. It’s 4 years. I could stand on my head for 4 years. I should go to the place that prepares me the absolute best for my career.” But sweetie, it’s 4 loooong years. Don’t you think you’d perform better at a school where you’d be happy? “Dad. I can be happy anywhere that lets me keep my cat and I can have a tub instead of a shower.” Well, you’re setting the quality of life bar a little high there , aren’t you sweetie? “Da–aaa-ad!” Jeebus.

marite, I have my fingers crossed and doing the “no snow” dance. I’ve mastered it this past few weeks.
