At least we got to go to a great party. Our friends own a seafood restaurant (Ken’s Place) and provided quite the spread. And it amused me that three of my daughter’s best friends were there.

The food at our friend’s place was surprisingly awful—cold pizza and cupcakes. There were four other couples who all brought store-bought desserts. We brought a dip and beer. And I didn’t know a single face in that halftime show, but I don’t get that genre—at.all. Just talentless cacophony to my ears.

It was a totally lame evening. Oh well.

I went to a friends’ house after halftime and brought some snacks. People enjoyed the snacks and we chatted a bit. It was nice catching up. Game was ok but I honestly didn’t care much who won.

Yesterday we did a rafting whale watch (Maui) - the whales were so incredibly active. At one point we were surrounded by a pod of 8 extremely active whales, males, vying for one female - the competition was intense! (It’s the height of whale season here)

I know CC doesn’t allow videos, so here’s a screen shot -

Venus over Haleakala & the first changes of the sky as the sun begins its assent - heading home today. It’s been magic (save for the broken toe issue, but I know how much worse it could’ve been, so not complaining). Aloha for now.

This popped up in my Facebook memories a couple of days ago from our 2012 trip to test out San Diego.

A few more kayaking with the whales - my buddy is so tall you can’t see me, so I added one where you can! We were out for 3 1/2 hours - most exhilarating experience!
