Those are incredible I am in awe!! Feel a little silly having posted a dog in a sweater😀
I LOVE the dog in the sweater! Whales in kayaks is not my normal life! I was in awe as well. The one that we sat quietly while it hung out with us, was actually a mama and her calf, we could smell its breath, and its movement rocked our kayak. I was so glad we hired a guide, he had some magic paddles! We were going this way and that, about a mile out from shore. And a lot of stillness for us, just watching.
You have my sympathy! Our boiler broke while we were in Cancun. Came back to a 38 degree house! Our A/C also had to be replaced within the year - of course in the summer
Seeing the whales off of Maui is one of my favorite things!
Interesting pictures.
Our thermostat in all rooms except one is set at 52 degrees. Have several dogs, none of whom will tolerate at blanket at that temperature. They, and I, still swim outside in unheated tubs.
P.S. My point is–at least from my perspective–is that your boiler is working just fine. (The real difference is humidity levels.)
P.P.S. Getting a bit off-topic, but sitting/swimming in the ice cold plunge pool is a pain management technique as I refuse to take cortisone shots. So, not a macho thing as much as it is a type of natural remedy or natural medicine.
Just as I would have suspected. You and your dog are much bigger and stronger alpha males than me and my soft and fluffy dog.
Responding to your edit: we actually had no hot water so yes a humidity issue of sorts. The HVAC people confirmed it was time for a new system.
Very excited to read this morning that giant pandas will be coming back to the San Diego Zoo this year!
Among the most beautiful photos that I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing !
@GKUnion, I voted somewhere for that photo in a contest. I just love it.
I’m sure many of you saw this picture taken by Intuitive Machines’ Odysseus lunar lander. Or it’s a giant alien bug devouring Earth.
Husband was reading the news story of the landing - very exciting! But hearing about a race to the south pole of the moon in hopes of finding water and trying to beat the Chinese… I thought, wait, didn’t I just watch this on streaming - For All Mankind?
“I’m home!” We’ve been here so many times (got engaged here 32 years ago) that that’s what I always say when we roll up. We haven’t been in the greenhouse in years though, so that was nice.
On our way back to San Diego from another great ski trip in Colorado.

I can hardly stand the cuteness of those cows snuggled into the flower beds!
Beautiful CO pix!
We took the boat out this evening to see if the Osprey were back; a bit early, but they’re here and nesting!
I took this picture years ago at Eagle Beach, Aruba, to confirm that my nail polish Revlon “Ocean” was indeed accurately named.
