First time making beurre blanc. I didn’t dice the shallot quite finely enough, but the sauce did not break, and it was delicious. It was lemony, garlicky, acidic, bitter, and creamy/buttery.
The chicken comprised pounded breast halves breaded and pan-fried in butter and oil. I couldn’t think of anything better/easier to put the sauce on. 'Twas a hit, but my right elbow was sore afterward. lol
Ever since we moved to San Diego nine years ago, I tried for a ticket to Comic-Con because I like pop culture. Finally nabbed a Sunday ticket this year. I just wanted to see what it was like inside - I had no idea!
I did pre-order these prints because Bridgerton and cats. The artist was delightful.
And waited in a short line to buy these heart pins (I gather pins are quite collectible) because they’re charming, and who wouldn’t want a fire breathing dragon over the convention center.
I’ve never been an artist after my wife showed me an interesting yard sculpture I immediately thought I could do better. The bodies are scrap wood; the arms and necks are leftover pieces of garage door springs; and the heads are driftwood. We’ve named it Dick and Jane.
I especially like the Jane’s hat and the way the arms came together.
Cooling center in Tempe, AZ. I peaked inside. Lights were off and 5 people were sleeping on blow up mattresses. I’m glad they have a place to go. Over 700 died of heat related causes in Maricopa County last summer.
One of my favorite funny photos is from the days we lived in N. Andover, and I snapped this pic in front of the Andover public library. However, every.single.person I showed it to immediately pointed out that the town is pronounced “Redding” not “Reading” and couldn’t see a drop of humor in a sign that says “No. Reading” in front of a library.
Just me and D18 on our own. From Mammoth to Yosemite (easy transportation, left our car at the end and took the bus to Mammoth). It was the section we missed two years ago when we hiked from Yosemite to Mt Whitney because it’s hard to get a permit.
Seems most here just want to share travel/nature/pet photos, but it was meant as a general-purpose thread, so anything goes. As I posted upthread:
There have been some beautiful photos shared here, but I hope this thread doesn’t scare anyone off from sharing pics that aren’t magazine-worthy. I like seeing photos of projects people are working on (before and after), what they’re cooking, funny or cute things their pets did, or just things of general interest regardless of how (in)expertly photographed.
