Yesterday I went to Target/Bob’s Discount Furniture/5Below at a strip mall near Coney Island. I left as the sun was setting and walked along the water, taking this crappy photo. Verrazzano Bridge to the right of the sun. It was a really beautiful day with zillions of Brooklynites enjoying their collective space outdoors–lots of bbqs, badminton/softball/baseball/basketball etc. games, and one conveyance of note I should have photographed–a family of six on a bike with two rows of two pedalers each, and an extra seat in the back for grandma and the baby. Very cool!

Day and dusk views from son’s apartment. If the mountain was out, it would have been in the gap between buildings at the far right.

This is one of the many fabulous sculptures from the exhibit of giant wooden tr0lls created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. This exhibit came to our local botanical garden last spring. If the exhibit comes to a botanical garden near you, be sure to see it. Gee, for some reason this image and exhibit came to mind lately

Have you seen the mountain “out” while there?

Not this trip but often in the past. Some sun in the city but not to the SE.

Today was our planes, trains, and automobiles day. I was a little bit anxious if this would go smoothly. Taxi to Bruges train station, train to Brussels, fly to Stockholm, then Uber (didn’t feel like figuring out trains/metro) to our BOAT hotel. It’s pretty nice. Of course, I was met with more STAIRS! H pointed out later there is an elevator. But that’s not how the girl told me to find our room.

Home from our Bermuda visit and missing the island and family already. It is a truly beautiful little gem. H’s sister and BIL live 5 minutes walking distance to the beach and we really enjoyed our time just chilling out. Lots going on now that we are back home with both of my parents so it was a welcome break. D2 and I want to take over this abandoned former eco lodging and make it a destination wedding venue in the island!

Wow, that’s cool! Are you seriously thinking about doing it? Why was the property abandoned?

@MaineLonghorn - not serious, but it would be awesome!

They developed this area with these “glamping” lodges about 20 years ago as a lower cost alternative targeted at trying to get younger visitors to the island. It never really took off and closed down within a few years. Someone was going to take it over and revamp it, but it never happened and it has just been left to decay. Supposedly the original developers received a 240 year lease for the property. Bermuda is such a small island at only 21 square miles with 60,000 residents and the government is terrible about doing things that will attract younger tourists. This is about a mile walking distance from my SIL and our nephew’s houses and the beach here is our favorite hangout for weekends while we are in Bermuda.

In 1976 I bought my first album “Frampton Comes Alive”. Tonight I got to enjoy one of his last shows. He was amazing!!

Guest appearances from Patty Smyth and her husband John McEnroe. Getting old can be fun😀

Great pictures! I saw Frampton in 1976 at the LA Forum during the Framptom Comes Alive tour.

I saw him at the Capital Centre in Maryland in the mid-late 70s. I had his poster on my wall as a teen.
