Took bio and chem and slated for physiology this year.
How would you prioritize physics/AP Bio for senior year?
School doesn’t require Physics, trying to figure out priorities.
-Physics: take at school senior year, community college (spring or summer), or BYU (online) OR do I swap physiology for physics this year?
-AP Bio, how important would this be after bio and Trying to figure out if AP Bio is worth prioritizing or is it more of a nice to have if there’s room.
Also curious, for those who did community college physics or BYU instead of a school class, does admissions treat this like any other class?
Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
Best to include physics some time during high school. Since it looks like you are interested in biology and related subjects, note that if you major in biology in college, you will likely find physics to be required. It is best to have taken physics in high school before taking physics in college.
Can you replace physiology with either physics or AP biology this year, and then take the other of physics or AP biology the following year?
It is best to have a year each of each of the basic sciences - bio, chem, and physics. You can take a second, more advanced year of any (or continue in college) or add some other science (environmental, physio, etc) based on what your school offers.
Even if you don’t plan to study anything requiring science in college, the basic principles of the 3 will be your science knowledge base for the rest of your life.
I also agree. I recommend that college-bound students take physics, chemistry, and biology in high school. Would it be possible to take both AP Biology and physics senior year? Taking physiology junior year could better prepare you for AP Biology. Else, I would take physics junior year & possibly take both AP Biology & anatomy/physiology during senior year.
