Pillsbury Bake Off

Well, my daughter and I just submitted our first ever entry for the Pillsbury Bake Off in the breakfast foods division. Kind of funny given that I really don’t like to cook. However we came up with a recipe that she just loves - regularly going back for fourth servings.

Has anyone else entered any cooking competitions or state fair contests?

About 25 years ago I did a chili cook off & came in with 3rd place. I have a “secret” ingredient.

Once I did a local bake-off kind of based on the Pillsbury Bake-Off…I made a breakfast food as well! Are you going to kinds sorta share what you made??? I mean, at least tell us what the food item is (you can share the actual recipe after you win… )

I’ll give a couple general hints once the contest closes.

Oh my, I haven’t seen the words “Pillsbury Bake-off” in years. When I was a kid, winning the bake-off was like my life goal! I loved to bake (started making all our family bread and rolls in Jr. High) and dreamed of that magic spark that would get me to the finals.

Fast forward - I still love watching Iron Chef and such but could never interest my kids in baking. Good luck to you and I hope your recipe wins!

Good for you! I’d love to do this. Whenever I watch some of the competitions on the Foodnetwork I put this on my list of things I must do, but I’m chicken!

My D (who is now a senior in HS) was in the Kids Pillsbury Bake Off when she was 10, it was a lot of fun, she still has her little chef’s hat. Her recipe was simple, something a kid could make, but what she didn’t think about was presentation. I thought the silver candlesticks on the dish next to hers was a bit much!!!

Okay, the contest is closed.

The dish is a baked version of the Mexican breakfast meal of eggs and chorizo. There are three basic ingredients (plus optional toppings) and it only takes about ten minutes to get it in the oven. My younger daughter can’t get enough of it. I was actually going to make it tonight for her but my mom took the last of my chorizo.

We started off working on cookie recipes but I didn’t feel like we were covering any new ground. Sure was tasty though.

I won third place in the apple pie contest at my county fair one year.

I’ve gotten lots of ribbons for canned goods, but they don’t actually taste them. Nevertheless, my stuff–especially oniony B&B pickles-- is highly prized by recipients, including “gourmet” store owners who have offered to sell it.

Sounds delicious! And fast and easy!

Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Post these recipes ladies!

No, but I am trying to convince my aunt to enter her Chocolate Fudge Marshmallow cake in the Pillsbury Bake-Off. It is an original recipe and it’s absolutely amazing!

twomules, it sounds great! Good luck. (And please do post if you don’t mind.)

I’ve never entered a bake-off, but the Pillsbury cookie book is one of my favorites. It’s mostly bake-off winners, with some other old standards thrown in.

My grandmother went to the finals of the Bake-Off three times as a contestant; she loved to play with food. She never won, but of course, I think she should have! :-)

I’ll have to go back and read the fine print. I don’t know if I could post it online.

Chocolate Fudge Marshmallow cake sound likes something wonderful!!

We have no delusions of making the finals. I was just looking to do something with my daughter. She came up with the idea.

saxophonegirl: Corner Bakery (a chain) has a fudge brownie that incorporates marshmallow…killer brownie…
