PINK SHIRTS on guys

So…that is a Pink of another hue.

bump bump bump

“Basically you’re not really prep unless you summer in Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard or the Hamptons.”

People up north don’t even know what preppiness is until they see old-money southern boys. Just travel to Washington and Lee or UVA.

agreed… i think most guys at my school had a pink shirt by sometime last year

northern preps?

I hate it when guys wear pink shirts.

I’m a guy. It looks dumb, if you ask me.

I wore pink shirts a lot probably 2-3 years ago, before things really started taking off. now i’ll just slip one in every once in a while, because it has gone from sophisticated to frat-boy/preppy/douchey

I think it looks really, really bad.

bern700- you are my new bud. I agree completely with you. I love pink shirts and popping my collars. However, as of late, I have had to regress to a sort of reverse snobbery by wearing mellower whites, the classic lacoste, and putting my collar down. This is due to punks that think that abercrombie and american eagle are preppy and that visors are cool. Also, look at the root of the word “prep” preparatory, as in preparatory school, therefore public school is out. Hopefully, when preppy becomes uncool again I can return to my normal life of pink and popped collars. Nantucket dominates the vineyard by the way and the hamptons are a little tacky, although I can understand its nice especially if you live in the city.

Pink shirts on guys? Ewwwwww, no. I can’t stand the preppy look on guys.

definitely meateater…I’ve done the same thing you have. Starting going back to a more classic look because of all the ■■■■■■■■ imitation going on. I agree though, the Hamptons are a bit too jappy. Thank god that seersucker hasn’t become mainstream.

Seersucker and Madras are the last bastions of the elite. The day Abercrombie or American Eagle start producing these items is the day I move to England and try to go to Eton so I can wear white tie everyday. I’m a Nantucket fan because a) that’s where I go so I’m biased b) it has by far the most republicans of the islands (MV is ridiculously liberal and so is the hamptons) c. they have the original Murray’s where you can get real nantucket reds and Bill’s Khakis.

Pink shirts on guys are terrible! It’s just far too feminine of a color.

I used to like it when it was done as a funny thing or just to be unique, but now everyone is doing it and it’s not weird anymore. I want to go back to the days when a guy wearing a pink shirt made me laugh! :p

meateater you would so fit in at penn…you’d love the social life of the preps (especially St. Anthony’s frat, Owls secret society, etc.).

Seersuckers and Madras were both pretty heavily featured in Cargo and GQ for summer. I saw them a lot around campus but I don’t think they’ll be catching on as much.

Yea I’m applying to Dartmouth, Princeton, Penn, Amherst, Williams, Camp Trin Trin, Middlebury, Vandy, and UVA. My only concern about Penn is that I might be a little too un-jewish, however, one of my best friends graduated this year and is going to Wharton so I’m gonna stay with him during orientation and get f-ed up and see if I like it.

I do like the pink shirts on guys. If you are secure enough in your masculinity to wear pastel… more power to you.

Maybe I’ve just spent too much time up North, where “cleaned recently and not thrown on the floor” qualifies as “nice” attire for men.

don’t worry i’m not jewish and it’s not bad at all…only about 33% are jewish…the only times you notice is on jewish holidays when a lot of people are gone.

pink shirts on guys is a REALLY bad trend. it’ll hopefully die soon.

and pink shirt aren’t only for preppy guys. a lot of wannabe thugs and urban style scrubs like to rock the XXXXL pink shirts because apparently that make the gangsta. idiots.

i think only gay guys should be allowed to wear pink shirts…jp. but seriously, guys with pink shirts are just trying to be “pimps”, whether it be in a ghetto or preppy way.

what i think is the worst is when guys not only wear shirts that are pink, but that also have sayings on them, such as “only real men wear pink.” or “Keep laughing, this is your girlfriends shirt.” hello, the shirt is XXL, so it’s not even clever. that just puts the icing on the cheesecake.
