If you know what I’m talking about, read on. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you might NOT want to read on!

Don’t recall seeing a thread about this on CC yet…

My D introduced me to the idea of Pinterest knowing how much I enjoy online “wasting time”.

I signed up last night but am waiting for an “invite” - apparently they accept people not right away but some say you can expect an invite within a couple of days…

If you’re in the Cool Kids Club ( ) and already on Pinterest, what are your opinions? Is it time sucking for you? How are you using it? What type of interests are you pinning? I can see myself getting sucked into recipes, decorating, gardening…

I’ve also seen that this seems to be a place that lots of 20’s and 30’s are hanging out - will a 50’s mom be out of place!!! :)

Huge, HUGE time suck. But oh, so fun! No, you won’t be out of place. There are tons and tons of ideas about all kinds of stuff. Sadly, my “Looks Yummy” board is the one I pin to the most….

It took me 4-5 days to get an invite. I haven’t used it to browse too much so far. What I’m using it for now is to save ideas for a house I hope to remodel soon. I have boards for bathroom, kitchen, living room, home office, and bungalow exteriors. When I see an image I want to save, I can easily pin it via a toolbar add-on to my browser. I save a lot of images from gardenweb and Houzz. I’m thinking it will be a good way to share my ideas with an architect and designer.

Love it! Only a time suck if you go to the site!

I pin recipes and ideas for a kitchen renovation we are planning next year. My D1 is using it with her future room mates to share ideas on decorating their apartment in August.

My daughter introduced me as well. Oh how I love it. You can lose time for sure. I use it for crafts and art projects as well as decorating and renovating ideas. Plus I really love photography and just seeing simple images done in creative artful displays is fun.

The food boards are fabulous, however I always end up on the baking boards…

I did just complete a project that I copied from Pinterest, so it can be useful and valuable. :)

A 20+ at work introduced me, but she rarely uses it because it’s such a time suck. I haven’t asked for an invite yet, but I really enjoy looking, especially at baths (we need a redo) and gardening. There do seem to be some 50 something moms on board.

I’m a member, but haven’t grown addicted yet. I tried to make a “kitchen remodel” board. But I don’t maintain it. I hope to get the hang of it while I pass time in the airports this weekend.

You nailed it, abasket, huge way to spend time. I have to limit my time spent looking to 15 minutes per day. Yes, the female college crowd loves it, but you will not be the only mom on there at all. D introduced my 88 year old mom to it and she enjoys looking very much. She doesn’t do the pinning though…

I enjoy it. I find interesting recipes, crafts and patterns and just all sorts of fun things to look at. I try to only go on it when I’ve read everything on cc!

While I was waiting for my invitation I just copied and pasted entries to a word document, and that’s what I have stuck with. It’s now a 40+ page document with design, crafts, humorous quotes, hairstyles and recipes only organized by when I found them. It’s a bit chaotic, and I’m sure their method is far superior, but I’m afraid I’ve imprinted this upon my brain.
It is crazy addictive…worse than CC or FB!

There are plenty of 40ish women and even men on there. I find there are tons of baby & bridal items to sift through to get to some great recipes, craft and decorating ideas. Great place for me to head after CC and FB.

I love it. Have a variety of boards and love that I can share stuff with my D who is also on it or just pin stuff that I hope to do/make/go some day. Depending on how disciplined you are…it COULD not suck all your free time! ;-D

I haven’t gone overboard with it, but am enjoying it for posting kitchen remodeling ideas and for visiting future DIL’s wedding pinboards. It’s fun to see what she is planning.
