Second, I just wanted to casually remind people that in past cycles, some people with admissions offers got merit offers starting in October or so, and then some didn’t get them until much later, including as late as March.

Did your kid submit test scores? My daughter is also 10/12 - Dietrich - OOS but we haven’t heard yet. Thinking maybe because she’s test optional?
It could be, but it also could be essentially random. Like it appears the admissions committees may only have so much capacity per meeting, and they don’t necessarily strictly review in order of submission date, so you can just get unlucky in the sense your application doesn’t make it to the top of the pile as soon as some other application submitted at the same time, or indeed later.
App submitted 9/24, marked complete 10/1 (thanks to Collegeboard’s not so speedy test score delivery), admitted to Neuroscience 10/9. OOS.
Waiting on honors decision, any merit.

They sent an email stating that an important update had been posted to the portal. Not sure where it was in the portal, D27 logged in and found it easily.
My daughter got in last night! Applied 10/9, finished STARS 10/12, admitted 10/22.

Still waiting on OOS merit here too and acceptance was the first week of September.
You can look at past Pitt threads, but the merit wait can go until March 1. There seems to be little rhyme or reason to the timing of the awards, especially in relation to the acceptance date. Most accepted OOS applicants do not receive merit awards. Patience is needed, and I would not recommend contacting Pitt admissions to ask!
D27 received an update to her Portal and in-state merit award last week. 8K total (2k per year) which she is happy to receive! She applied test optional to Dietrich and was accepted early Sept. Lots of extras, 2 sport captain and visited a zillion times with an older sibling at Pitt currently. Good luck to those waiting!
Still waiting on merit. OOS - Admitted mid-Sept for engineering. No demonstrated interest though.
