Pitt - Class of 2031 Applicant Discussion

DD applied last week, got email to set up portal 3 days later and acceptance was waiting in it when she did it! What a nice surprise! I do think they have an auto-admit process for high stat kids though (she has a 34 ACT) because friends of hers who applied to the same program test optional are still waiting after several weeks.

For those waiting - don’t be alarmed if it takes long. 2 years ago - mine applied in mid-August and didn’t hear back until beginning of Nov. It was very stressful since everyone was hearing back but they assured us (after checking a few times that nothing was missing) that all was good. Sometimes it just takes a while. Good luck to all - Pitt is such a great school!

Yes I have been checking everything every night at 7pm ish

Finally applied last night! When do we get the portal link? And does that have the STARS info?

Thank you for the reassurance! D27 has promised herself that she will only check her portals on Sunday - otherwise she’d be hitting Refresh every five minutes.

When it took awhile for you two years ago, did they say why so many people were hearing quickly and others weren’t?

Have any merit awards started to trickle out for the class of 2031? I know in prior cycles they start reviewing files for merit awards sometime in October. My current Pitt student was accepted late Sept and received a merit award late Nov. My senior was accepted early September and I haven’t seen or heard of any merit for the class of 2031 just yet.

They will email you to activate the portal. And also need to complete the STARs so they can review your GPA. Took my son a bit of time to fill that in , and make sure it goes through. You can email the admission office for more info

They did not. Per the stats, mine was “on par” with others so not sure what took so long. Maybe it was the specific major or they were waiting for more apps for that region or maybe the AO was sick or committee just didn’t meet. It was stressful more so because others were getting it and week after week we were just waiting lol. I recall there were a few of us because we had found comfort in knowing we weren’t the only ones!

Not that I have heard about. My older daughter applied very early, was accepted the first week of September and then received merit around the first week of November. I’m thinking it will be similar for D27 who applied and was accepted around the same times.

We were wondering about this too. Haven’t heard anything yet either

UPDATE - D27 got her acceptance to Dietrich last night!! She’s hoping to be accepted into SHRS as a junior, so this is exciting! Still got more apps to get in, but this was a great development. Good luck, everyone!

Scholarship letter was received tonight for those who are curious to know when they will start coming out. We are ecstatic since this will be a likely school for my son going for engineering. I am a happy mom tonight!

It was about 1 week TAT after they got the STARs.

My child applied for engineering 8/19, was accepted mid September and got an 80k scholarship offer yesterday - out of state.
