Plan to apply August 1 for 2011

anyone have any tips -this will be my daughter’s first school to apply to and we have no idea how it works- I’ve looked at the info and it seems pretty self explanatory- Thanks

Auburn has an easy application, with three essays, if I remember correctly. Make sure her essay’s are reviewed for grammar and other good writing techniques. If this is her first choice school consider paying the housing application fee as soon as she is accepted so she has a better chance of getting her first choice in housing. Good luck and hopefully everything will work out.

Do I have the high school send her transcript when she applies? or do they request it from them?

You will need to arrange with your high school. Your high school may send it or some schools will give it to you in a sealed envelope with the seal over the envelope flap so you can not open it. Then you would have to mail it.

Essays for AU were short, limited to around 300 to 400 words in the past. The hard part was editing to get below the word count limit.

I second that you request an official transcript sent form your school or get one in a sealed envelope to send to Auburn; just don’t break the seal or try to open the envelope. At the end of senior year your school should send a final transcript, although your child should have already been accepted by then. If your child takes any AP tests senior year he or she will have an opportunity to bubble in their AP booklet to have the scores sent to Auburn.

Try to have your child’s transcripts sent as soon as you can if you are aiming for an early acceptance.

she applied yesterday - and the activities page wouldn’t submit it so she printed it and is mailing it- when do they let you know about acceptance?

According to Auburn University’s website([FAQS - Admissions](http://www.auburn.edu/admissions/faqs/admissions.html)) - Decisions for the freshman class will be processed based on the following calendar:

October 15 (all materials received by October 1)
Early Action- Acceptances made during Early Action will be based solely on academic criteria (i.e. GPA and test score). This is not a binding decision. This is strictly an early action by Auburn University. The accepted student has until May 1 to confirm their decision with a $200.00 non-refundable confirmation deposit. Decisions made based on early action criteria will continue on a weekly basis.

Is there a certain time of the day on the 15th that decisions post?

I thought they were mailed

results are posted for DD. She was accepted

Congratulations! How great to know already!
