I hope to eventually get a job as a consultant at Mckinsey, Bain, Boston Consulting Etc. I know that they take a fair amount of their college recruits from the University of Virginia. Thats my number 1 pick for college but I screwed around a bit in High School and I might not be able to get in. If i went to NOVA for a 2 years then transfered how much of a negative impact would that make on my chances. WOuld it be worth an extra 20,000 thousand to go to a school like University of Michigan where they still recruit?

I don’t think it should hurt you…if you go to NOVA and then UVA under the GAA, and then (depending on whether you go into the Comm School or Econ) do exceptionally well in your major courses and participate in meaningful internships/work then I think you will remain competitive. UVA degrees don’t mean any less if you transferred from another school. Heck, they may even appreciate your decision to go to NOVA for two years, save a truck load of money and then continue on to a fantastic school…as opposed to paying an awesome amount to go somewhere else (U. Mich.).
