Please answer our questions

Heyy MITians and possibly '16 appliers … well me and my friend are applyin to MIT this year as an International Freshmen Applicant from here but we have a few ( or a lot of ) questions to ask … so please help us out guys …

How many students apply from India each year ?? and how many of 'em get selected ??

What are the things that are most important in MIT selections ?? i mean some specifics they are lookin out for or we as Indians can produce to stand out of the crowd ??

The students who got selected in recent years … What were there achievements that actually paved their path to MIT ??

Well the application part 2 has got its own essays … But do we have to write anything additional to that and send it with the documents … if yes how … an if no can we send it by our own choices … will they help ??

Well most of us know that we get school report cards and marksheets or annual report whatever from our school … so how many of them are required i mean of which classes ??

What all documents we have to send ?? …Does the transcript or report card of class X is the board one or school one or both ??

Is AP important for selection ?? i mean the courses that we follow CBSE / ICSE are quite a more developed than these APs and most of us preparing for IIT-JEE have studied courses quite advanced from normal coursework and these APs but how do we have to explain these things to MIT ??..

How are the interviews ?? Do they ask only general questions or Subject specific questions ??

Well that’s it for now … if we have more questions we’ll post it afterwards … We’ll soon be uploading our profiles and sort of resumes … so please if you have any suggestions of an kinds please post and try to help us out guys !!!

Go to the college specific forums on CC, in this case the mighty MIT forum and look at first few of the threads.

Elaborate answers on standardized tests, application and interview process are bequeathed there.

See the thread named " class of 2016" which will give you an idea of the profile of the students likely to be MITian.

MIT promises to meet full-need of every admitted student (incl. international). And they do NOT offer merit-based scholarships. Given that, the answer to your question is that EVERY student (Indian or otherwise) who was accepted to MIT would have received full financial aid, according to their need as determined by MIT.
