Please Chance me

Please chance me, I’m really clueless. I am already a junior but I am totally unsure of where I stand. I am:

An Indian female
Studied in India for 2 years of HS and HK for the last two years
Did ICSE got 94.71% (including 100% in 2 subjects)
Doing IBDP now, high predicteds
SAT I:
CR: 700
W: 780
M: 760
(Practice tests)

Extra-curriculars:
Did MUN work in 1st two years, was head of press and won in state-level competition
learning Carnatic classical music for 2.5 years (at time of application)
chief editor of school newspaper for one semester
do voluntary work, helping younger students in geography (1 hour every week)
Editor of school magazine
Did 50 hours of voluntary work in a Chinese village (will do 50 more hours next year)
School Choir
Some drama productions

I know my extra-curriculars are pretty weak (hoping to strengthen them!) but I think my academics are pretty strong. I want to study liberal arts/humanities (pretty undecided still!) at a good university. I hope to do well in the essay because writing is my strong point. What do you think are my chances?

btw, gonna take SAT 2 this year

I think you are on the right track. You have scored well in practice tests. If you can repeat/improve them then you will be in very good shape.

What I hear is that your extracurricular activities have to show passion for something that you believe in. They don’t have to be in the field you are interested in studying unless you want to go to CalTech. You don’t have to indulge in a wide array of ECs - focus on one or two and show passion. What I have heard from college admission people is that they want applicants to use essays to tell about things that are not reflected by test scores, GPA or awards. Since you are strong in writing this shouldn’t be a problem. If you are in the habit of writing daily/weekly journals then that should be helpful when you sit down to write essays.

Good luck!

P.S: I like your name ‘little princess’

Thanks, I guess I just needed some encouragement after seeing all the super-smart people here and freaking out. I want to practice but I wasted 3 hours today!!!

chance for wat??? which colleges…

Dude, old thread. Never mind now. :)

Some people have no life. No wonder they don’t sleep. They’re busy pulling up forgotten threads and asking pointless questions without any real intention to help just because they’re curious to know something.

I think I am happy I sleep 8 hours a day. Atleast I don’t suffer from insomnia and remedy it by clicking madly at the mouse.

PS-Here’s to another red star!

Some people don’t have life
I don’t have life. Nor I want. I want to live for others. My people. My country. I want to live for the people whom I see suffering from Filariasis, Tuberculosis and the diseases you can’t even imagine.

Their legs are swollen and blood coming out, but you can’t help.
They are hungry for more than two days, but you can’t give them food.

You can’t even bear the plight for a minute, but I see them daily. You can’t look into their eyes, but I see them everyday. You can infer from their eyes ‘Please Help Us, we don want to bear anything more. Kill us’.
But you can’t do anything.

You can’t even send them to the Govt hospitals, but you can blame it to the politicians.

I don’t change the world, but I make a difference to it everyday.
and if this is no life, then I don’t want any.

How do you know I don’t have any real intentions to help. Oh please pix, don’t play this sarcasm game with me. (atleast not with me)

I don’t suffer from insomnia. That was a joke that I don’t sleep.

I don’t click madly at mouse, I use Click Pad of Lenovo i3 laptop Win 7 home premium (latest). :p

Am I ■■■■■■■■ because I LOL’ed for a whole five minutes at Harish’s post? :|

ani, you are watching Comedy Central.

Harisheena is well on his way to carving himself a place on a list. The knock-knocking has been going on with earnest determination. His motive looks to be soon fulfilled.

It’s not that easy pix.

Oh, no. I’m certain that you’ll be earning a place on the list I’m talking about. I don’t think you understand what I’m talking about. A few more exhibitions of your exceptional intellect and wit and you’re there!
