I think the only way you will get more dads on here is to get a poker game going.

How about “Myth Buster” or “Dirty Jobs?” Do I get a virtual Man Card for watching these shows with S2? We also watch poker on TV together.

Cool idea. :)

Can someone teach me poker? I don’t know how to play and I have waaay too much cash in my pocket.

parent2noles,

I don’t know much about poker either, but I would be happy to get together with you to teach you. Perhaps we could learn together.

P.S. Be sure to bring all that cash in your pockets.

Sure…you do know my two Kings beats those five heart cards you have, don’t you?

Hey, let’s play some Three Stooges videos. That’ll keep the chicks out. Knuck, knuck, knuck.

DAMN STRAIGHT!

Nothing my H likes more than newbies with lots of cash in their pocket at his poker table. :D

Several years ago, H and daughters did the whole YMCA Indian Princess thing for a little while. I’ve heard good things about this group, but in this particular locale at the time, it was kind of a strange group of guys, who in the end weren’t really getting the concept of bonding with their daughters. They were good, however, about planning lots of overnight campouts. As soon as the girls were in their cabins for the night, the all-night poker games got started! I’m happy to say that H and D’s decided to drop out and do their own bonding things (and H did the poker games outside the “guise” of campouts!!!)…But not before they each had lots of patches for their tacky red felt vests…

Sure! Two kings beats all the heart cards every time don’t they? The lower the numbers the better, right?

(nyuk, nyuk)

Tuiotion dad. Bring a cooler and rent a car with a tail gate–the before and after party is on the parking lot. Better than a John Waters film, says hubby.

I just found out that Sanjaya is winning because Howrard Stern is urging his retro man listeners to vote for the worst–in order to do the show in. Now that’s man thinking.

OMG!!! ROFLMAO!!! :D

OMG!!! ROFLMAO!!! *

This reminds me of a story which might be shared better in Sinners alley but…

Anyway- caution there is nudity-
When younger D was in 8th grade- her entire class went for a week to a YMCA camp- on one of the San Juan Islands- ropes courses etc- however there were other schools there at the same time.

We had few parent volunteers- & I was in charge of about 12 kids during the day and 10 girls at night were in my cabin. ( Incidentally D was not in either of my groups- by mutual decision)

I had a few of the more precocious girls who were bound and determined to have some evening escapades.

They begged and begged me for instance, to allow them to sleep outside of the cabin in the meadow ( this was after I had overheard the boys and girls making “plans”)- they apparently had asked their teacher- who said it was up to me, but I said I wasn’t comfortable with it, because frankly I was 14 once too ![]()
They were not pleased.
instead after lights out- ( where they went fully dressed- with skin tight jeans and hoop earrings- they said they were more comfortable that way), three of them got up, I assume after they figured I was asleep.

So ( the cabins didn’t have doors) I jumped up,not even putting my shoes on because I didn’ t want to lose them, and followed them-
They were in the bathroom- innocently enough- but it looked like they were checking their faces  they also seemed very surprised to see me.
Anyway- I escorted them back to the cabin and I assume they gave up for that night.
the funny part is coming up.

So I told the teachers about my suspicions, with the result that the teachers decided since they weren’t leading groups anyway- they would sleep during the day and patrol at night.
Which resulted in them sitting on the side of the hill overlooking the boys bathroom where they could observe.
One of the boys, apparently slept in the altogether- and didn’t bother to put anything on when nature called in the middle of the night.
When he noticed coming out of the bathroom that he had an audience, instead of hiding or running back inside, he slapped himself on the side of the thigh like he was riding a horse * Hee Yah! Hee Yah!*

One teacher laughed so hard that she literally peed her pants.
The great thing was - the next day, he wasn’t mortified at all, but apparently took it as an opportunity to expand his audience. ( I think he is going into theatre)

Which reminds me- if * real men* arent afraid to make fools of themselves in public- why dont they like to dance?

Well, real men dont go into theatre.

Where real men can be found, with some of their toys:

Well, real men dont go into theatre.

Well, you do realize that John Wayne, Chuck Bronson, Clint Eastwood,Harrison Ford,Humphrey Bogart all were/are actors right?

In movies…- where wearing makeup is part of the job? ;)

omg, emk4, I just remembered the scene in the movie The Birdcage where Nathan Lane tries to mimic John Wayne’s gait. And do you remember Kevin Kline trying his best go retrosexual in the movie In and Out? Too funny!!! I think even these manly men on CC would enjoy these flicks. ;)

I loved “In and Out”
Kevin Kline is just hilarious
He was more “macho” in a fishcalledwanda-
or “psycho” anyway.
I thought Lac Cage AuxFolles was better though than the Birdcage
I do like Nathan Lane though.

Perhaps they would prefer the newJamesBond?

Although they may want to go for popcorn during the chair scene

Movies for men:

Saving Private Ryan
The Matrix
The Quiet Man
The Ten Commandments
We Were Soldiers
The Patriot

Hmmmmmm, really? Well, here’s one! He’s straight, one of four boys from a farm family…ALL of the boys went into theatre/showbiz. My middle D did a show with him and my older two were in an AIDS fundraising concert with him. Yep, this one is a FABULOUS Broadway actor AND straight! (though he did wear a thong in a JOCKEY underwear ad that was featured all over NYC! ROFL) Nice guy, too…had a great sense of humor and lots of patience when I asked him to kiss each of my D’s on the cheek for a photo after the concert! :D
