Please Go Away, Mark Sanford

Boy, some people just don’t know, or don’t want, to stay OUT of the news. I realize that high profile divorces are manna from heaven in this age of 24-hr news, but don’t you just want a few particular individuals to fade from the spotlight? Or in Sanford’s case, to take a hike?

Mark Sanford should give his Facebook password to an intern. And the intern should change it. Then whenever Sanford wants to post something on Facebook, he should give it to the intern, who should decide whether this is something that should be posted. Whiny, overlong, self-absorbed posts that read like they were written while drunk should not make the cut. Did this man learn nothing from that train wreck of a press conference?

Maria Belen Chapur says that the breakup was because of politics, not because of Sanford’s divorce.

Perhaps an adult who posts all his private stuff on Facebook is in need of a psychiatric examination.

I couldn’t agree more. What makes him think anyone is interested in hearing about his love life?

My only question is why a smart, attractive woman like Jenny Sanford married him.

No, it’s Mark Sanford’s lawyer who wants the gag order. Wouldn’t you, if you were his lawyer? “Shut up, shut up, Mark! Just be quiet and stay off Facebook! Remember, we talked about this already? That press conference didn’t work out too well, remember?”

And he’s cheap as well - I remember the story his wife told in the midst of their divorce. In happier days, he had one of his staff go out and pick up a necklace for her birthday or anniversary. He brought it home and gave it to her and she was thrilled. Loved it and said she wasn’t used to these sorts of gifts from him. Then the next day the staff member gave him the receipt and he went through the roof. He thought it was too expensive. He asked her for it back and returned it. Who does that??? I would have divorced him right then and there!

But the whole saga is so entertaining! Google around. Pay attention to the divorce settlement.

I particularly like the part about how Jenny Sanford got Mark Sanford to consent not to fly airplanes at his children while they were in his care, or have others fly airplanes at them.

What, you say? He likes to fly toy airplanes at his kids? That’s really strange. No. In his family, they play a game of chicken where they fly real airplanes at children, at 200 mph, and the children have to remain standing as long as they can. For some inexplicable reason, Jenny Sanford objected to this delightful pastime.
