<p>So here is the background: There is summer biology research camp that I REALLY want to go to. I applied got waitlisted then wrote a letter of interest and got in. During this whole time I was emailing the head lady back in forth. Now the problem is that due to some family issues I can’t attend. I feel really bad for all the work I had to do and that, someone else could have got in. </p>

<p>the best i think you can do is express your disappointment that you won’t be able to go because a serious family event came up. if you can do that in a semi intelligible manner, then i think you’re good, and she’ll be understanding :).</p>
