Please Mr. UPS man, come our way!!!

Nadica- the letter says 75 out of over 1000. I think that is what it was last year too.

Congrats spring!!!

BTW, funny how they always say they had exactly 1000 applications. Of course, there was a typo in my s’s letter- his year they said they had 10,000 applications!! We thought he was really special until we found out, a year later, that it was 1000, not 10,000. LOL

thanks well good luck all

eokitty- DD did a dvd project in which she “invented” and new drug “Dehonschola” which is used to treat TD (tulane defiiciency), a disease found in highly movtivated students. She used the box as the prescription for Dehonschola. Made a whole power point presentation that you would find for any new drug doctors give you. My favorite part was where she listed side effects of Dehonschola; desire to eat large amount of crawfish and an appreciation for jazz music. Good luck to all the rest of you waiting on the UPS man.

Congratulations to those who have gotten good news so far. Sorry not to be more effusive but I am on a BlackBerry. How addicted is that???

BTW it said over 1000 last year and this year.

Ahh congratulations to those of you who have gotten it! The projects sound amazing.

I have a lot of work to do tonight, but I have a feeling that until 7 PM passes I won’t get anything done.

In reading my DD’s letter that came with the DHS award, it had an unusual sentence that caught my eye. I quote "Out of a field of over 1000 applicants of unprecidented strength and quality, the committee was restricted to awarding Deans Honors Scholarship to ONLY THE TOP 75 MEMBERS OF THE INCOMING CLASS.

So do grades have a bigger role to play than the box?? or am I reading this the wrong way??

sounds like they didn’t even consider the project just went by stats- seems a bit unfair.

Can I ask where those of you have received the UPS letter where you are in the country?

Congratulations to you both. You should be very proud. Love to know where you are and if anyone knows if all “yes” letter were sent yesterday?

Thanks for your reply.

No. It is just marketing speak. More later.

momwithpride- We are very near to Tulane so don’t lose hope because of us. Our UPS driver also knows us well, so she would probably pick up anything she saw for the house even if it was not due until tomorrow.

It doesn’t sound to me that they didn’t go by the project…just saying that they were limited to giving only 75 and those went to the top members of the incoming class, which would mean they consider the ones that did a project good enough to get this scholarship the top 75! I agree, considering some of the projects I have read about. It is obvious that the ones doing these projects would have outstanding grades also.

Csshsm- does that mean you are in-state? Did you also apply for the John Hainkel Scholarship? I applied for that too (no UPS package for me. hopefully just YET haha), but I don’t know if they sent those out at the same time.

well we live in NY I checked with UPS here and they said they do deliver til 8pm, although hope is starting to dwindle

I just e-mailed my admissions counselor asking if all of them were sent out yesterday and she replied this:

Hi Camryn,

We’re actually sending out information all week so that we can notify all applicants by the end of the month at the latest for both the Dean’s Honor and the John Hainkel so we should be in touch soon. Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

Sincerely,

Valerie

so even if we don’t get them today, all hope isn’t lost, which is stressful, but good, right?

that sounds like good news we’ll just keep our fingers crossed then

Thanks cj but didn’t they say in the chat that all the “Yes” letters were mailed yesterday?
Maybe the counselor meant that they will notify applicants all week if it is “no”. Trying to remain hopeful, but seems we should have received something today. No?

hmm. I replied back and asked specifically if it were possible to receive a package some time later this week. Hopefully she replies soon.

Nothing here. Bummer. Guess University of Michigan it is which is not too shabby! Congrats to everyone who earned the big prize. You are amazing!

Great cj. Do you think she will reply today?

Funny, my son is thinking about U of M too, been accepted, but loves Tulane. I am a grad of Michigan and I would be happy with either school, both really great schools. NOLA much warmer that Michigan!

We’ll still keep hoping for this award.
