I am surprised at the recent t/c to the school.

As I posted last Thrusday, I spoke with someone at the school who unreservedly stated that the notifications would go out on Friday and that they would be received on Sat or Monday (today). UPS or Fedex was not expressly mentioned, but next day delivery was. One would think that such a statement is definitive. I will be surprised if the candidates do not receive notifications today. But I have been surprised before.

Sorry everyone, traveling on business. I see I missed a lot of excitement! There is no way they would go regular mail. I am afraid someone got hold of a student assistant that just got confused with something else I am sure. The last post by heltonmom seems right to me.

oxymoronicalgem - Please tell me you were kidding, lol.

Agreed that they would NOT send by regular mail. Hang in there folks! YOu’ll get the nice pkg with the notepad in a pleather binder and a cover letter. Hang tight!!

What I posted, even the part in parentheses is copied from the email I received from Amanda McIntyre. I didn’t add anything, just wanted to clarify that. This is the entire email…but I am still looking out everytime I think I hear the UPS truck…LOL

Ms. Helton,

Winners will be notified via UPS this week (most likely by tomorrow afternoon). Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

oxymoronicalgem - Whew! I thought maybe you had cracked already! Glad to hear that is not the case. Tomorrow should be interesting.

I know these are just so many words when there is a lot at stake, but I just want to say that no matter the outcome, it is very clear to me that you are all outstanding students with an immense amount to be proud of already. I know you know intellectually that there is a lot of very high level competition and there are only so many DHS’s to go around, but that doesn’t take the edge off emotionally. As the cream of the crop of our country’s students, you will be faced with other challenges and competitions. You will win your share. If not this, then others. I just really think you seem like a great, great group of students (and parents, if you don’t mind my saying). I really do wish all could win.

OK, was that just way too sappy? Too bad, I mean it anyway.

Ok, now I’m getting really nervous. I tried the UPS thing again.

For shipment reference, I entered “D”
For the date ranges, I entered Feb 18 to Feb 25.
United States and our zip code.

I get the following response. No idea that is even from Tulane (or going to my house), but “D” in the reference would be a good thing. Plus it corresponds to the letters being sent out today with a delivery date of Tuesday. Try it yourself and see what you get. If others in the group get the same information, we may have problems sleeping tonight.

Tracking Information

I wasn’t following the technical details, and as such I’m confused as to what everyone’s doing here with the reference codes and the tracking. Also, I’m trying (with little luck, thanks to the dualing procrastinatory aides of CC and Youtube) to finish yet another college-related essay, so could someone help me out?
My zip is 16803…not sure what other info would be relevant; if you need anything else, let me know. Many thanks and virtual chocolates to whoever takes up my plea and helps to sate my ravenous curiosity!

Enter some type of reference code (I was using each letter of alphabet separately). Enter your zip code and United States with future delivery date. Then seeing if something was coming back as a result. Once it is officially in the system, you can see where it orignated from. What you are looking for is a package from New Orleans (of course) that was shipped to your zip code and sent recently.

Actually I am pretty sure that those are UPS express mail envelopes and not USPS. They are just sitting in USPS boxes, probably to help carry them to the mail room or wherever. USPS doesn’t have any gold color on their packages, I don’t think.
